Outer CV boots - repair/replace?
Hey all,
I read a lot of conversation about inner CV boots, but not a ton about outer CV boots... so here I am.
I got stuck in some snow the other day and while in 4WD I heard a loud clunk/pop when trying to get out. The front wheels were not spinning but the back wheels were since the snow was holding the axle up. I'm thinking the pressure made the passenger side CV pop.
Checking it today, I heard it pop while turning to back out of my parking spot. Driving around to see if something was broken I saw the boot clamp on the ground and just knew it was CV related. So anyways, outer passenger boot is ripped.
Now, I've already replaced inner boots before as I installed CVJ boots and stretched them out to prevent tears from being lifted. But my question is, should I just replace the outer boot or would the CV be damaged hence the popping? I just want to make sure I order the right thing to fix this thing up this week.
Cheers
