It is good enough to get me back on the road and last several years but I will want to replace it eventually. Hood and fender were $50 each. I picked up a headlight, corner light, airbox, washer fluid reservoir, grille for an additional $90. The only other major body piece I need is a bumper. I just got the call that the body shop is done straightening the radiator and fender support, I'll post some pics of how it turned out when I go pick it up.

I did find a decent condition front bumper assembly, it is millennium silver so it doesn't exactly match but I figure it'll be good enough for the time being and it comes with the large flares, foglights, turn signals, all for $300.

When I was looking at hoods I found a couple on facebook marketplace that look like they have hood scoops. none that are the right color but I was wondering if you think it would be worth it to buy it and maybe paint it later. How much would you say is a fair price to buy one?
I've debated the hood scoop idea for years. Unfortunately Toyota did not make Desert Dune a paint choice for the trims that had scoops so every one that you see is custom painted. I'm sure you could instead get an airless sprayer and some Desert Dune paint and do it yourself but it won't be an exact match to your existing paint job because it's brand new paint on the hood and old, faded paint on the fenders.

The last time I asked around about it it was around $300 for the paint match and blending if needed.

Glad to hear it's being made whole again. The hoods with OEM scoops have been going up and I don't see them going down. I do not know what absolute market value is at this point. They're a rare find and have decent demand so sellers do have a pretty strong set on the price. I suggest getting one while you can if that's your goal. I don't know where the 3rd gen market will go ultimately but there has definitely been upward pressure over the last few years. As a fellow Desert Dune owner, good to know about the availability of hoods in that color.

My other car is an s2000. When I first bought one 5 years ago, I could have bought an OEM hardtop for about $2,500. Now those tops are $4-5k and in very short supply. That's a totally different market, sure, but as we start to see nicer 3rd's going for real money on BAT, rare desirable OEM parts that are no longer in production tend to go up. If people are willing to pay real money for the vehicle, they'll be willing to pay real money for the OEM parts. A buyer will buy a super clean 99 SR5 for $15k when they really wanted a highlander and bid up the sport hoods to make it their own.

I picked it up from the body shop, I think it looks pretty good! It cost $411 to have the unibody straightened and squared.

I'm glad to know you're repairing that nice truck instead of scrapping it. Good move and good luck for the rest of the repair! Parts a relatively cheap on the third gen and it's easy to work on. Good luck!

I finally installed the parts i found. A bumper assembly with lights, large flares, and brackets, $300. The color matches almost perfectly. The car I got it off of had a hood scoop as well and I couldn't resist for $225. I got the hood scoop and bumper installed. The bumper brackets need tweaked to sit perfectly and I need to center the hood but I think it's looking great. The hood is silver like the bumper whereas my car is desert dune but its close enough that I may just leave it. My car paint code is K84.

3rd Gen Toyota 4runner Paint Code Chart

The important thing is its back together with all lights working so it should be good enough to pass inspection to get a rebuilt title and get it back on the road awhile.

The hood scoop had a deflector on it as well but I took it off. Having a deflector and a scoop seemed kind of opposite, even though I know the scoop is just for show and the front end of the truck deflects wind above the hood anyway. Anyone in my area want a factory hood deflector? It is missing a couple of the clips that held it on.

Well almost a month after the accident. My 4runner passed the enhanced inspection to get a rebuilt title, is registered, and ready to drive again!

The main thing I noticed on the hood protector vs non hood protector 3rd gen 4 runners rigs. The non hood protector hoods get stone chipped to heck and back.. While the hood protector ones do not. I have both styles and its very noticeable in my area of the world..
