Instrument panel dash lights...I知 stumped!

Ok 3rd genners, I could really use some help on what I thought would be a simple bulb replacement! I’ve parked my 5th gen for the time and working on a 99 SR5 4WD for my son who will turn 16 soon.

I followed the instructions in threads here to do an LED replacement of the center console bulbs and the 3 instrument panel bulbs. Some had burned out, but at least one of the instrument incandescent bulbs was still burning before I started the process.

Center console, all done, no problems.

Main dash, came apart just as easily as it looked like it would.

Here’s the problem: I’ve tried LED’s, flipped both ways for polarity, flipped the twist lock housings just to see if that does anything, I’ve tried 24’s and 74’s after realizing there was some dispute about which bulbs the instrument panels required, and now I’ve gone all the way back to #74 incandescent bulbs just to eliminate variables. NONE of the lights will burn when I hook everything back up to test.

I’ve hooked them to a 9v battery after plugging in to the twist lock housings just to eliminate problems with the bulb or housings...they burn great. Once plugged back into the dash, I’ve got nothing.

Rheostat is secure. All other lights on the dash are bright and fine. Center console all good and dimming. These 3 instrument panel lights are just not burning. No corrosion or issues visible on the housings or circuit board. Ribbon cables all (5) are securely plugged back into the cluster.

What could I be missing? I don’t see a bad fuse but would there be one that only controls these 3 lights somewhere? TIA!

Look for damage or burnt traces on the circuit board behind the cluster, they are fragile and it doesn't take much corrosion or manipulation to sever a circuit, check for continuity from cluster plug to bulb connection.

If they work while in the holders (as described in the thread in my sig) then it must be the board or power to the board.
