A/C light is off but still blows air

I have a 99 4runner and just did a 300 mile trip over the weekend. On the way back I noticed that the A/C light wouldn't turn on and the car only blew hot air. When I finally got home I checked and all 3 belts are still there but I noticed that there was what looked like some small burnt plastic remnants around the engine bay, not sure where that's from though.

Car runs fine otherwise but with the heat coming I'd like to fix my A/C, any tips on what I should do?

How does the ac compressor pulley/clutch look?

It's not the same vehicle but would this be a good video to test it out?

Those are some good things to check, but keep in mind there are a lot of different reasons your ac compressor may not be engaging when you request the ac to be on

So I was able to get some time this weekend to look at things and the face does spin freely by hand. I have to look for some alligator clips so wasn't able to test with that just yet, maybe next weekend.

I'm still concerned about the burned plastic/rubber though. While I was in there I looked around a bit more and saw that the plastic was on the belts and even on the underside of my hood like if a plastic bomb that threw plastic shrapnel exploded under there. Any idea what that might be from? Here are some pics:

Otherwise, I've still been driving the car and it's running fine. I did upgrade my injectors last year as well as added an airraid tube.

It's hard to tell what that might be from. With it being that high up I would suspect it might be your alternator or power steering belt

Compressor

Do you have a photo of the front of the compressor? Occasionally when the compressor short cycles, either from too much or not enough refrigerant, it will overheat the clutch bearing with the result being bits of rubber shrapnel being expelled.

Thanks, the belts look fine to me though, other than the bits of burnt plastic flakes. No tears or breakage that I can see.

I'll try to get some this weekend, been busy at work. It looks normal to me though, for a 22 year old piece of metal at least. A bit dusty and dirty but overall fine.
