Identifying keyless entry system

I have a 99 SR5 with factory keyless entry. It has the 3 button remote plus the panic button. No led on the fob or console. I am trying to determine which system this is for new remote programming and also programming the auto lock and unlock system.
I did do some searching and it all just confused me. Most of the instructions reference the led on the console which I do not have.
Any help would be much appreciated. I'm sure this is a noob question but it can be really confusing with the different systems. Let me know if there is any more info needed to I dentify which system I have. Thanks
Eta: the FCC code on the original remote is 1512y.if that helps.

You just have the regular system. Just need a remote for your year vehicle. Its kinda a pain to get to work. I always have issues getting it to work. Also I have ordered a remote that never worked for me. China makes alot of crap.

Here it is.

1. Start with the following conditions: you are in the vehicle

a. Key is out of the ignition
b. Drive door is open ( all other doors are closed)
c. Driver door is unlocked (other door locks don't matter)

2. Insert the key into the ignition (don't turn it) and pull it out.

3. Perform these steps within 40 seconds:

a. Cycle the power locks 5 times. Use an even pace and try
to go relatively fast.

b. Close, then open the drivers door.

4. Perform these steps within 40 seconds:

a. Cycle the power locks 5 times (same as before).
b. Turn the ignition to ON then back to OFF.
c. Turn the ignition to ON then back to OFF.
d. Remove the key from the ignition.

5. Within 3 seconds, the power door locks should cycle (automatically)
indicating successful entry into programming mode. Return to step 1
if the locks do not cycle at this point.

6. Perform these steps within 40 seconds:

a. Press the LOCK and UNLOCK buttons on the transmitter
simultaneously for 1 second.

b. Immediately after letting go of the lock and unlock buttons,
press the lock button by itself and hold for 2 seconds.
Within 3 seconds, the door locks should cycle ( LOCK then
UNLOCK) once-- indicating successful programming. If
the door locks don't cycle, or cycle twice. Repeat steps
6a and 6b--this remote has not been accepted.

c. Repeat steps 6a and 6b for EACH transmitter that will
operate the vehicle. Including any old transmitters.

7. Close the driver door.

Does the remote you have in hand, function on your vehicle? Then buy the same, identifying What system you have is moot.. you already know. Just make sure you use the WHOLE FCC ID (you left off the HYQ part, which is arguably the more important aspect), there may well be other 1512y bodies (that just indicates the appearance) that aren't on the same radio frequency (HYQ part)

If you're confused, then you haven't found the right thread yet. I agree, it was confusing at the start (I went though this last year, just like most new owners go through it), but you just haven't found the right thread yet that explains it in a way you understand. I doubt anyone can explain things better than the threads that already exist, and in the variety of different ways. Foolish to try to recreate a hundred different variations... I'd rather you learn how to fish. To that end, look at the sticky posts, there's one that talks about a better way to search the forum. It is Actually better, use it for your future searches. Then it's just a matter of time spent reading till you see it explained in a manor you understand.

Thanks, I had figured it was that procedure which I have tried a couple times but haven't been able to get I to programming mode. Any certain tricks when it comes to timing of the sequences or anything?

Also I believe that there is another set of programming where you can have the doors lock and unlock automatically when you shift from park etc. I'll dig around and see if I can find a thread on that as well.
