Sudden, random, no-start (Immobilizer issue suspected)
This is annoying, I've somehow managed to make my 4R a non-starter while fussing with the seats. By non-start, I mean that it cranks as normal but won't "catch". That's today, yesterday it was sorta catching and running Terribly, let it sit for ~30 minutes and then it started up and ran fine, same with this morning (started right up and ran fine first time).
I only just noticed that my security light continues flashing with all 3 keys, I'm pretty sure at least 1 of those is a Master (light should go out immediately), which is why I suspect the IMMO system.
Work I've been doing is finally getting around to wiring up the heated seats for my wife and dropping the rear mounts on the drives side to give myself some more headroom. Seats in and out a few times, disconnected the ground terminal from the battery while connecting the hot lead ~ nothing I haven't done a hundred times before. Today I pulled the fusebox to look at finding a place for a trigger wire for the seat heaters relay (only want them on when the vehicle is key-on). I decided to just do the add-a-tap via a switched fuse, so I didn't do anything to the wiring beyond nosing around.
I'm beyond frustrated right now, so I left it on a battery charger (was a little low). I happen to have a spare body ecu with key that's programmed to the immobilizer, so I plan on swapping that in tomorrow though I honestly don't believe this will resolve the problem. I'm also posting this before searching, but my first search is going to be tracking down the wiring/connectors for the immobilizer system from the ignition on back. It really Feels to me like there's just a bad connection.
Thing is, I'm a motorcycle mechanic (and old cars... like, points and carbs era), so I don't know enough to even search effectively. Anything else I'm missing to this system? It's just a pickup at the ignition and the ECU that processes that info, right?
Another oddity, Torque is having a hard time connecting to the OBDII reader (I've used this same device without issue for a couple years, just used it on another vehicle a few days ago). I haven't tried techstream yet, mostly because when I managed to get Torque connected, it showed zero faults. Leads me back to thinking it's something wonky in the Immobilizer system.
Thoughts?
