That's so funny you mention Prizms. My parents had one of those and for whatever reason, they had timing belt issues where the belt would break prematurely. Happened to our family car totally out of the blue when it should have been fine.

Prizm is Basically Toyota Sprinter AE91. I removed all Prizm badges and rebadged it as Sprinter.... even installed Sprinter rear lights! Funny, I was once pulled over by a cop between Las Vegas and Fallon NV for this rebadging! I buy parts from partsouq as a Corolla and all parts are identical!

Personally I'd leave it a little longer. Are any of the pulleys noise or any cam/crank seal leaks? That's usually the only reason I do the belt if I can verify a OEM belt was installed within the last decade or so, regardless of mileage.

Don't feel bad, bro. I did my first one at 238K and it was still in reasonable shape for the mileage. Not to say that you shouldn't do it at 240K, but I can confidently say that I was still okay for a while.

Edit: @gamefreakgc Agreed. When I did my t-belt, water pump and pulley's and tensioners and stuff all at the same time. Water pump was in fact OEM and wasn't weeping or anything, no leaks, nothing. I was pleased with everything and happy I did it when I did. Maybe i can squeeze out another 238K!
