Crazy 3rd gen prices
Granted this seems to be restored by a shop but, would this still be worth the $30K+ bid price so far?

This truck keeps coming up every couple of months, lol.
I said before, I think the problem is that this is the WRONG truck to be putting that much of a rebuild into (new engine, new this, new that), because they don't have problems to begin with. So whether it has 200k or 20k, it pretty much will drive the same.
So the question is, why not buy one for 5k, and save the 40k+ for your own mods, etc. Which is the other problem, they restored it to stock form and it does look good, but that kind of money would get you a very nicely modified one, with still like 20k to spare!
30k is pretty impressive though, which does align with what we've been seeing the past 1.5 years on these things. That regardless of miles, the MINT condition ones are getting very pricey.

They've been trying to sell that thing for like 2 years. IMO, while it's super nice, it's not worth that kinda money because the attention to detail is just not quite there. You could get a comparably nice one for 15-19k that's all original whereas that's not as nice as it would be if it was just built by Toyota. Beautiful truck nonetheless.

As said this truck isn't nothing knew. They're trying to ride off the near-nonexistent mileage to get the pricetag and brand new paint job. The only time I've seen a 4runner even SLIGHTLY warrant a price that high was the """barn find""" that sold last year with like <50 miles on it, kept in 100% mint condition from the 2000s (which DID fetch like $41k or something in the end). But that's because it was still brand new, not someone's fix-her-upper. Even when done to the letter, a restoration is very rarely worth the same to the buyer as it is to the owner. However a new, total respray like what they did is NOT cheap no matter what way you slice it. That would easily be a $10k bill for one of us to do.
Seeing the sanded body instantly reminded me of when boomers would sand and re-finish antique firearms in their garage because they thought that was "restoration," when really they just cut the value by 2/3 instantly. Also kinda funny how they put a Sport hood on a Limited (or the missing side cladding), or the 2002 skid on a 2000. What a hodgepodge "restoration"

I saw the restoration video on Youtube and it was a great video. I'm not surprised it hasn't sold because they are asking way too much. I myself would pay under 30k and no more than that. Rebuilding the motor was really unnecessary tbh.

This is done Properly... Wish more people would restore their Runners..to this spec. I'd say it's worth the Money.. You won't find another runner in this kinda shape...

Too add to it the frame/underneath doesn't look up to snuff enough to be asking $30+k..No thanks. Their trying to bank off the 3rd gen nostalgia.

It Looks like it was a "From the frame up" restoration. I suppose in the NE it would still rust up.

Exactly, just trying to squeeze more money.

Nah, I view it more as testing the waters. They clearly resell 4runners and other enthusiast vehicles, some of which have been restored. The resto market has not really been explored due to the amount of these things sold and sheer durability. I think there are not many people who'd want to pay 40k for a 3rd gen and the resto market has not yet been proven. I do not understand mentality of collector vehicles or the criticism that it has a 2002 skid plate, etc... Looks pretty nice and functional to me.

Where can I find info and pics of this runner? I can't seem to find anything about it on the forums.

I think they (seller) is trying to over hype it, and
@ lockedlex
has really solid points. Don't get me wrong, if Toyota somehow produced a brand new 3rd gen off the line with original parts and everything, I'm talking bone stock off the lot, in 2021, hell, maybe I would drop that kind of money for it. But I can't trust x or y company over OE Toyota manufacturing. It's pretty sweet to see it all rebuilt and done up nicely, but I'm not dropping 30K on it. I'd have a hay day rebuilding anything on my 01' if or when that time comes, and allocate my money towards building it instead
