You should have never posted that link. I have a rusty 94 ram with the 12v cummins that probably won’t pass inspection in the next two years.

I spent 1500 rebuilding my 3.4. Adding another 1000 dollars to that 1500 I think I’d be close to the price of that crate cummins.

I came across this place the other day that claims to do a 1KD-FTV conversion... for $30,000! https://dieseltoys.com/4runner-diesel

These 1KD-FTV conversions seem to be a pretty common thing in Australia you can probably find good info on AUS sites and YT chans.

Seeing OP is a fellow Californian. Emission laws here are so insanely strict on vehicles (for good reason, but still) swapping from gas to diesel is a major SOB. I've thought it about and done a little research. Basically everybody just says go see your smog referee since emission laws are painfully convoluted. Best bet would be using an engine that has been sold in America in similar class vehicle. Maybe someday California will move smog exempt year for gassers from 1975 to something more recent.
