Questions about the lovely RS3000 factory alarm

So I just bought a 1998 Limited that didn’t have any key fobs. I bought the standard OEM ones only to find out I couldn’t program them the traditional way of locking and unlocking the doors since I have the RS3000 alarm.

I attempted to push the green button to program the FOB but the button got pushed all the way in and is no longer accessible. I purchased a new one from eBay and it should be arriving in a week or so.

Is the alarm just plug and play or do I have to do something else? Also, will the OEM key fobs work (the one with the button for the rear window) or do I have to get the ugly ones for the RS3000 that only have the two buttons?

Thanks!

If only you would search instead of spamming the same message over and over and over again. All of the info is in this forum, posted Multiples of times over (HUNDREDS of threads). But, since you seem completely incapable of the most basic of functions, I'll just go ahead and spoonfeed you and maybe you'll stop posting.

1996~1998 only had the "dealer" installed RS3000 which would only lock/unlock doors (no rear window action), info here: http://www.97supraturbo.com/Tech%20s...0Reprogram.pdf

A Toyota TSB on identifying the different systems (pictures of the remotes, FCC info, etc): http://ww2.justanswer.com/uploads/sn...27_remotes.pdf

Programming instructions : Programming Instructions for keyless entry remote? (NOTE: the 4runner has notorious weak lock actuators, they work better when cold so do it in the early morning and some have had luck using a key to physically assist)

You can change the volume of the "Chirp" ~ keyless entry beep volume

Thanks for your attempt to help! I’ve seen all of that but it seems you may have skipped over my original post. I’ll frame it a little bit simpler in case it’s not clear what I am asking for.

Current RS3000 broken. New one in the mail. Is new RS3000 plug and play or is there different installation instructions?

Also you linked me to the programming instructions when I already stated the locking method does not work with RS3000 vehicles (also stated in my original post but I think you missed this too).

I am sure you have figured this out by now, but when I got my '97 I didn't have a FOB, so I ordered one, but no luck, so while i was at the junk yard for other parts I kept a look out for a RS3000 under the driver seat. Finally found one and with my Ebay FOB and Junk yard RS3000, keyless entry started to work. It was plug the new one it, go through the pairing sequence and you should be good. Hope that helps!

Does anyone know what doors are support to stop the auto-relock function? My driver door and passenger door (maybe my rear hatch too) when opened kill the 'auto-relock' but the rear passenger doors do not. If I am loading the back seat first after ~30 seconds the car relocks, one of these days I am going to leave my keys on teh bench seat and the car relocks itself of me. Is this as designed or faulty contact sensors for the rear doors?

Does your dome light come on when you open the back doors? If not the door sensors are bad. And that’s why it auto locks

Thanks! Haven't fixed the glitched yet, but the light doesnt always come on, but just taping the contact will trigger it to come on. I found some posts/YouTubes showing how to remove and clean up the contacts, see if that helps before dropping $16 per door for some new contacts.

UPDATE:
Cleaned this up over the weekend and got things working. I followed this vijeo's lead Door Courtesy Dome Light Switch - don't replace it, repair it - YouTube
