HVAC switches from Celsius to F and back

US based, 2000 Limited, displays Celsius or Fahrenheit depending on ambient temperature. When the interior gets hot, both inside and outside temperature are displayed in Celsius. In cooler weather it reverts to F. When it does display in C, pushing on the front panel of the HVAC control will temporarily switch back to F.

Any thoughts as to why this happens?

the circuit board may be damaged. there's a thread in here for the repair of the circuit board.

although there's a specific wire in the controller that needs to be grounded to change from F to C or is it from C to F, your issue is different. you might like to PM the author of that thread
