Yes, you are correct.
As said above - it is our target to be BELOW $750 CAD for the LB3R. I haven’t had a UB3R built yet to have any pricing knowledge on that front (other than an estimate), so that will come shortly down the road. We are aware of what comparables are worth in the WIY world and we will be competitive, but our goal is definitely not to be the cheapest - it’s to be one of the most well designed and nicest finished products in the WIY sector.
I will release final pricing very soon as I would like to have these heading out the door this spring.
Thanks,
Addison

$750 Canadian is $600 US
Several WIY bumpers start around that price
Any guestimate on shipping to the lower 48?
The other question I have is what "other part" I'll have to source since I own a 99 fat lip SR5

Can you list what 99-02 owners will need to get, please?

Exactly what you quoted from rickashay is what you'll need.

Not exactly, generally
A bumper (assembly) is comprised of several elements
- upper valence
- bumper
- turn signals, L & R
- brackets, L & R*
- lower valence (not used)
I don't know how many I can reuse from my 99 vs what I will need to source specific to 95-98, plus I don't know how many brackets* are involved
This is the nature of my question. 99-02 owners have to source more parts than just the WIY LB3R kit - I'd like to know what that all includes in case I don't find one lying around complete

The bumper (metal part), upper valence, and turn signals.

Most WIY bumpers are FULL bumpers though, this is essentially only the wench mounting plate...
Didn't even realize OP was from Canada, between international shipping, welding labor, sourcing an upper bumper, and associated parts, you're most likely looking at around $1000+. That's ARB price range, bummer.
OP, have you considered having someone in the US cut it and ship it fror you? So those of us down here can avoid the shipping hassle from Canada?

- You’ll need to source your desired version of the “Upper Bumper” - whether thats a 96-98’ (these are $100 CAD on RockAuto or less from a junkyard) or eventually our UB3R version. Our Upright brackets will be hot-swappable so you can run a 96-98’ Upper bumper and change it out later for our fully fabricated UB3R down the road. These uprights replace all the factory bumper mounting garbage in it’s entirely.
- You could potentially need to source turn signals but honestly there are so many people relocating them, in so many various ways, that I want to leave that up to the end user. Most people are relocating the turn signals already into their A) projector retrofits B) into their corner lamps C) come up with your own idea altogether or D) Run factory 96-98 turn signal housings in the 96-98 Upper Bumper.
**We are working on a turn signal idea as a totally separate project, but it will not be ready for 6+ months.
**We are also making a small bracket if using the factory 96-98 bumper that will allow mounting auxillary fog lights (LED Pods) into the factory turn signal cutouts

Pretty much nailed it - although, as mentioned above, you can choose an alternate for the turn signals pretty easily.

Not exactly - we have wings, uprights, and other structural reinforcement points. I would not call it JUST a winch mount but it is definitely not a full winch bumper either. It also hasn’t been designed to be full winch bumper.

RE Welding Labor: As mentioned previously (previous thread page) we have a higher production cost due to all the pre-bent components. As opposed to other WIY bumpers this drastically reduces fabrication time (cost) and also yields a more factory like finished product.
RE: International shipping - This is going to be a non-issue. Shipping cost will be reflective of distance shipped, just like normal. The place these bumpers are being manufactured is about 2kms from the US border. Again a large benefit of the WIY kits is that you pay for shipping on a flat-packed product vs. A fully fabricated item that requires a pallet. (Exactly why IKEA does this with their furniture, among other things) Not too mention our bumper is ~45lbs shipped weight vs. Whatever an ARB is shipped weight.
RE: Upper bumper - They are quite cheap. I have found them for ~$65USD on Rockauto although they are currently low on stock. Here is a link from CarPart. LINK
I’m also willing to bet you can get one from a wrecker or someone parting out their 4Runner for next to nothing (I got mine for a case of beer)
RE: Comparing to an ARB - this is a drastically different product on many levels - aesthetically, structurally, and in weight. Yes they both have a spot for a winch and they both have recovery points. Ours is just half the weight ;) And not to knock an ARB (I personally love the look of them on some builds) but it has been designed with different objectives in mind.

We have strategically aligned with a manufacturing partner who ships to the US on a daily basis. They have years of experience with this with little to no side effects from the customers side, especially considering their proximity to the US. It is drastically a different story shipping from the US to Canada (that IS a hassle) but going the other way is much simpler/easier. That being said, we will always be looking for opportunities to improve our product in design and price point, while keeping quality top notch and manufacturing in North America.

A couple quick updates on the weekend from those who don't follow us on IG....
@ Tamarack.plus
Got the base section of the bumper fully welded. I need to make a couple more dimensional adjustments to get fitment just right in the next update but things are looking good. I think I would have been able to weld it together and do weld cleanup in under 3 hours if I didn't run into the other issues that I will be correcting soon. That's fully welded with all the welds cleaned up and it pretty much ready for paint. I still need to build the wings, but pretty stoked on the simplicity of assembly of the base bumper.
I will say that at least 1/3 of that time was spent welding the recovery points that are boxed and plated. I am considering (at a cost increase) cutting solid 3/4" recovery points that require no welding to assemble (just welding to attach to the actual bumper). This would also allow me to get a nice chamfer on the ID of the recovery hole for those running soft shackles. Oh the trade-offs... it's certainly been an interesting process learning about the give/takes that each design presents. Especially when making a commercial and repeatable product, not just a single unit.

My biggest aesthetic qualm with the design is the flat corner that reaches out to the bodymount/factory bumper mounts. I do like how we are able to tie into this for strength purposes, but I need to fine tune the look of that corner as it just doesn't suite the rest of how the bumper flows. I've got some ideas on how to fix it.

Side profile showing approach angle. Pretty stoked - and I've even been able to tuck everything about 3/4" closer in my current round of revisions.

Up next are the wings. Sorry to all that my OCD is dragging this out. Group-Buy will come when I am satisfied with the product. It will be worth the wait! (I hope ;)

The overall bodyline flow, clearance, reduced weight, and retention of the OEM look on this bumper is just amazing. As these trucks become real classics, I find myself really wanting to stick to the timeless OEM look more and more, and this bumper checks that box.
I cannot wait to see your refinements, and will be hopping on this as soon as it's available.
Also can't wait to see what the fully fab'd upper bumper looks like when it's ready!

I was literally thinking about doing something like this, earlier…but now I don’t have to figure it out. Would you be willing to allow some buyer changes? Maybe a grill hoop? I haven’t read thru this whole thread…can I purchase one?

Sorry guys! Been working on the sliders as things on the bumper left my hands.
I will be back in the bumper now for the next couple weeks as the sliders stuff moves out of my hands again. I should maybe start a separate thread for the sliders.
I'm coating the current prototype this week to get some images and actually see it painted. I did post an update on IG recently and just got my updated file package for the bumper. I will be going through it and kicking it off to production later this week to have the next rev cut and sent to me.
Side note - bought another 3rd gen that will be a Tamarack+ specific build. My partner is also shopping for a 1G Tacoma to do the same. Pretty stoked - planning a YouTube series for both trucks.
Thanks!
Addison
