Product Line :
NAPA Premium CV Shafts
Important Info :
Extended Travel - High Articulation, For Lifted or Stock Suspension

I scoured the net and found nothing regarding these from a 4runner owner so I guess I am the first. The info they have on the website is respectable and NAPA seems to purchase better parts than the other parts stores so we'll see...

Anyway, I'll be installing these today along with new seals and will let everyone know how that goes. I'm running the TRD coils with 3 perch Billys upfront but they were installed on the second perch which is a bit stiff. Need to call around to see how much to lower it.
Looks like Autozone sells them too as "Duralast Gold CV Axle 16067N" for $206. There is only like 3 or companies that make generic aftermarket CV axles. Trakmotive, Cardone and some other one I cant remember. The $100 Napa maxdrives (actually Trakmotive TO8043) are sold on Rock Auto for $52. They have these TO8043-ET but they are out of stock of course. Doesn't say how much they cost. More Information for TRAKMOTIVE TO8043ET

I got one from rockauto (to8043et) for $120 shipped and I also got one from autozone (duralast or whatever) and its the exact same axle. They definitely articulate better than my OEM ones. There are reports that they do not fit with bigger coilovers but I just have basic 5100's and its a perfect fit.

Yeah autozone had 20% off so I figured it would be nice for $40 extra to have an actual store to go to for a warranty claim if they decide to blow up.

I have the Napa 1258 axles. So far so good. The boots are molded to not rub on each other with which seems like a good idea.

I almost pulled the trigger on RCVs….

I have them installed and about 20 miles on them. I’ll try to throw some pictures in tomorrow comparing the articulation with these vs oem.

Oh yeah. Have probably 3 k miles now. Most of them hard. Initial impression seem very good and boots look perfect without any rubbing.

Awesome! I was thinking of picking up a spare set of axles just to have on deck for if/when the CVJs go

Extended/High articulation CV Axle

@Romeo1 any updates after even more miles with those NAPA 1258 cvs?
I'm flinging grease and looking at these.

@cl4Rk

Im probably about 4-5 K miles so far on them. 75% of those miles off road. The shape of the boots are interesting in that they are molded to definitely rub on each other a lot less.

I’m at 2” of suspension lift using bilsteins, and 265/75s and and I’d say at this point they’re a buy. Napa has warranty on them also. The seem a bit heavier than the stock units also.

I can’t think of a reason to not go with them unless your in the long travel area, or you just want rcv’s or another high end one. There’s definitely nothing lacking in the construction of the Napa units. Wished they sent a better nut with it though.

I may send my Oe ones to get rebuilt. I have a feeling it’ll be a waste of time though.

Be advised though that you’ll have to reuse your axle retainer I remember right. The one they sent didn’t work, sorry I can’t remember why, but I do remember that I just reused the OE nut if I recall.

That part number fits a lot of applications also.

Super easy repair. A good pry bar will assist in removing the inner shaft from the diff by overcoming the retaining ring.

As a guy who’s basically done an almost all Toyota parts resto and already spent way more in Toyota parts than I paid for this rig, I’d buy the Napa 1258 shafts again 100%.

Purchased a gen3 lifted by somebody else. They put OME 890s in back and merely put a spacer on the struts in front to match the resulting rear lift. This resulted in a ton of positive camber and the tires wore out on the outside edges. It eventually resulted in a blown CV seal.
My response was to ditch the lift and go with stock springs/struts. I'll be selling the 890s shortly.

Am curious, however, if there is enough adjustment to remove the positive camber with the standard setup after a 2" lift?
