Valve cover gaskets

My 3rd gen is running pretty well overall despite the 275,000 miles. I need to fix the leaky valve cover gaskets next and am wondering if there is anything else I should be looking to do while the engine is torn apart.

By the way, to all the people that gave me advice on my front assembly, shocks and springs — thanks! It’s driving like a completely different vehicle now.

Go oem and do the half moons also. And share a pic or two of that upper drivetrain...

be prepared for brittle wire loom plastic thingy, plugs, wires and stuff would be good to think about replacing if not done recently too. the pcv valve grommet can get brittle with age, people complain about having to fish out the broken grommet pieces...so do that while valve cover is off and not worry about it for years to come. Intake gaskets...and clean the throttle body and ICV while its all apart. just dont bump or knock your knock sensor harness.....another brittle piece.
the spark plug tube seals need to get replaced too. look at your vacum lines. I think timmy has a video on doing this often needed repair/replacement.
dont go cheap on vc gasket kitand make sure you have all the grommets for all the bolts....or you will be doing again in a short time...according to others. careful torqueing down the vc bolts....people have broken thier valve covers
of course pay attention to the hoses that go to the throttle body and ICV...some people get them reversed....have idle issues or start dumping coolant into the intake system....not good

What 3bears said. PCV valve and the grommet AFTER you take the cover off. Replace cam seals. Reseal half moons. Replace spark plug seals. Clean throttle body. Clean IAC. Use new gaskets for everything removed on intake. Label hoses and wires with frog tape and take pics for reference.
