I like how the pickup "conversion" or whatever you want to call this is not actually mentioned in the ad. It has a modern radio though!

I probably make up the minority, but I think these conversions look horrible. Quality of work seems present, but it just looks so clownish.

Sadly it's a much more common build than you think. This is probably the 4th or 5th one I've seen for sale in the past year.
Someone here chopped their trunk altogether to subframe it and put giant 4ft+ coilovers on, departure angle was completely maxed as a result. Was an insane build, been trying to find who it was for some time now.

Oh I doubt you’re in the minority haha! It’s super weird. I would never consider doing this personally. But I kinda do like that people do crazy stuff like this.. Just wish it wasn’t a relatively low mileage and otherwise decent looking 3rd gen..

Is this “truck mod” what people do when they really want a 1st gen but can’t find one? Or maybe they want a 1st gen but really like IFS... haha

I've seen one person justify it that way but otherwise I'm not really sure. It's hard to imagine that would be the case, having a <4ft bed is nearly useless. Could fit a spare and some recovery equipment I guess

A budget version of the chopped Land Cruisers they do down under (though there they usually extend as well).

It looks like shit. This one doesn't even have effort put in to make a tailgate. 6 grand is a joke. I'd give slightly more than scrap value because this is basically an insurance auction vehicle but slightly worse. I don't even think it can be exported to Haiti because it sucks as a pickup truck too.
