Cool. I was wondering if people were using some other more extreme/flush technique that I'd prefer to avoid. Thanks for the info

firebirdguy and leonp24, that keep posting their garbage on my posts, are FOOLS. WS is not backward compatible so find out what's used in your tranny and use that.

My 2005 4runner with 160,000 miles has been using Type IV since I bought it new from the Toyota dealer with zero miles. The Japanese that built my car used Type IV. Why would a Toyota dealer change to Type IV from WS in a brand new car from Tokyo? The FOOLS keep telling me to use WS. Jerks. Really FOOLS. Don't follow their advice. You'll be sorry.

The Toyota dealer did a D'F (6 quarts) at 103,000 miles and used Type IV (says so on the dealer receipt). These 3 idiots say they know more than the Toyota dealer. Can you believe how stupid they are?

My 4runner shifts and drives fine on Type IV for 15 years. Toyota recommends Type IV for some Lexus models and other Toyotas too.

Amazon.com: Toyota 00279-000T4 Automatic Transmission Fluid, 192 Ounces, 6 Pack: Automotive

I'll bet you 100$ bucks you need Type IV in your runner. Type IV is backward compatible, while WS is not.

--------------

I know that Toyota put WS fluid in your transmission when they built it. And, I know that you are too focused on getting everyone to believe your baseless claims to actually listen to facts or sound advice. I'm starting to feel sorry for you, but stupid is as stupid says.

Oh, and because everything you say is a lie, you don't have the $100 to pay the bet that you have already lost.

According to Toyota your 2005 4Runner came with WS transmission fluid: https://attachments.priuschat.com/at...SB-0006-11.pdf

The Toyota dealer did a D/F with Genuine Toyota ATF Type T-IV in 2011 - like I posted (for my 2005 4runner) - which I purchased new from them.

Page 261 of the OM on my lap says the 4-speed tranny used Genuine Toyota ATF Type T-IV. The 5 speed (page 260) uses Genuine Toyota ATF ATF WS.

I've gone 160,000 miles and 15 years on the Genuine Toyota ATF Type T-IV tranny fluid (a semi-synthetic). Still shifts fine/perfect.
Can't ask for more than that!

WS didn't exist before 2004/5 so if you have a Toyota older than that you could only use Genuine Toyota ATF T-IV.

The two tranny fluids are not compatible and you cannot mix the two. A 4runner tranny holds 12 quarts.
When you drain your 4runner tranny you are taking out about 1/2 the total fluid in there. Owners typically measure what they take out and replace the same amount - saving a measuring problem.

I'm actually quite pleased and surprised with my 4runner transmission making it to 160,000 miles without and problems or slips. It is still shifting the same as when I drove it off the dealer's lot in 2005.

So you acknowledge that the two fluids are not compatible, your transmission came with WS and was designed for WS, but you use the wrong fluid anyways. Gotcha...

There's an open question for captsolo-fordf150 to answer:

2005 Owners Manual-- ATF | Toyota 4Runner Forum [4Runners.com]

He's too focused on getting everyone to believe his baseless claims and can't actually listen to facts or sound advice.
