How long does it take to reach idle speed and engine warm temperature?

After starting up in the morning (without AC on), my 4runner takes about 5-6 minutes to reach the idle engine speed 650-700 RPM. Is it the same with yours? I find this is too long as compared to my 2000 LC (takes about 2.5 minutes) and 21 Tacoma (takes about 2 minutes).

Could the ECU temp sensor bad?

Thanks

Sounds about right to me. If I recall our vehicles have an initial high idle to help bring the engine up to temp quicker. Same reason why it's "hesitant" to shift until that needle crosses the bottom line, if you've ever notice it hang revs when cold; helping warm the trans fluid and the engine.

Thanks, though it was an issue. My wife drives the runner and she just shift to gear and drive off. I hate the drive line clunk when shifting at high revs. That's one of the main reasons I bought a manual tacoma!

I started up my rig and drove it 1.8 miles and it was 177 degrees and idling at 750rpm in park picking up my puppies for my off stretch.
