Ok, so I've had the rig for a little while now and I'm pretty happy with it. Owning an SUV again feels like home. However, it needed some work to start with. I had to replace a leaky power steering return line, and the radiator was looking worse for wear so I put in a new Koyorad one.
I went through a significant suspension upgrade that I
detailed in another thread. It has made a world of difference, the truck no longer rides like a brick.
I also made some upgrades to the interior while I was at it, largely because I was forced to. The last owner ripped their subwoofer and amplifier out of it like an animal, and had it all in the rear cargo area which I didn't want anyway. Stereo was from 2013, and without an amp, was inop.
In went a new Sony Apple Carplay system along with some nicer Infinity speakers in the front and some midrange JBLs in the back. I had the shop Dynamat all four doors since the panels were already open and I wanted a quieter ride. I only did the main layer they suggested that's mostly for road noise, not for audio quality. It's definitely quieter, although it's not a Benz or anything.
Also added was a Kenwood backup camera on a license plate frame and the Garmin Mini dashcam. I wanted everything to be hidden away and discrete.
The only thing left to do on the rig is to swap out the driver's seat cushion, which I'll probably do tonight or tomorrow, and try to work out how to move the jammed/dead lumbar support out of the full and upright locked position.
Otherwise, she's running great and is almost complete for what I have planned for her in 2021. Here's my full list of upgrades.
