ARB Switch Illumination

Got my ARB compressor (CKMA12) installed last weekend and drove up to Tahoe immediately following that. I took the blue switch wire (dash light illumination) and spliced it into an undimmed wire under the dash. On the drive up I noticed that the white light in the switch was too bright for me (actually the reflection of it in my window was too bright), so today I switched the splice to a dimmed wire under the dash.

I used the positive wire going to the cigarette lighter that has a green illuminated ring around it, which is a dimmed wire, but the switch still doesn't dim. It does have power, just won't dim. Any ideas? Thanks...

And because threads with pictures are more fun:

I just realized that the green ring surrounding the cigarette lighter is no longer illuminated. I must not have made a solid connection in the butt connector. I think that would explain the lack of dimming since I think it needs a negative in order to dim...

The negative and positive both have to be hooked up to a dim source, can’t be either or. I just tied into the dimmer knob as it was really close to my switches.

Hmm… Did you do that with the wiring loom supplied by ARB? As far as I’m aware, there is no negative wire for dash illumination coming out of the loom.

I’m actually using Ottraw switches but it’s the same thing basically. There are 2 grounds(blk) wires on the switch one of them is ground for the thing your switching and the other is the ground for the light, just gotta figure out which one is which. Then the positive side you hook up to the blu-wht wire. I’ll bet it’s #7 but gunna have to test it out.
