Outboard Shock Relocation - Anyone Running One Yet?

Hey all,

I haven't seen a thread on this yet, so if there is I apologize, please link it below! I get excited when I see a cool new product come to market.

I checked out Tim's video on this and have been considering it since Opt OffRoad starting selling them.

Is anyone running one yet? I am considering it as I'd like to go to a full king setup front and rear, to replace my Icon Stage 5's.

it was on my list until I found out you need a 3” backspace wheel to clear the shock....

recently, there was a thread about that. look for "SICMODS"

also, Ripcord did that in his 4Runner and Tacoma. But he used a different design, not the one with a hoop to support the shock.

A few years ago this subject came up and a member posted a picture of his relocation. He mentioned that if it’s ok for the 4th Gen it should be ok for ours. I took a screen shot of it but can’t find it.

I followed the lead of Ripcord, A.Wilson013, and maybe a few others, and went with the F250 front shock towers welded outside the frame. Super simple (relative), super cheap, no complaints at all, fits the FJ80 2.5" shocks without issue. I do run 1.5" spacers, but I think 1.25" would be enough to clear them iirc from threads I read about it.

My post on it:

So, with this you use the stock lower shock mount studs?

Ripcord fabricated and welded new lower shock mounts. He removed the stock lower shock mounts.

Not sure if you were asking in reference to my post or not, but yes with mine I used the stock lower shock mount studs. These are just 10" shocks, but if you're going with custom mounts, the sky is the limit.

I've seen the one from OptOffroad: Outboard Shock Relocation (OSR)

– OPT OFF ROAD

and then there's one from Arcworxs: 10 Inch Shock Relocation Kit —
I want to get one of them but I don't know which one yet.
