Need help with the AC

Hi,

The AC is very similar to that of a 2000 Limited's digital climate control.

The AC was working well the other day. Yesterday morning, the blower stopped blowing although the AC controller was working alright. I tried replacing the controller with a spare one that I know works but the blower didn't run. I disconnected the plug to the blower and with two wires connected to the battery, the blower turned on, so nothings wrong with the blower. the compressor turns on but it doesn't cycle any more. The evap box becomes cold and condensate forms around the surface of the box. There's only a few bubbles in the dryer/receiver.

I have tried replacing the sensors (cabin temp sensor, heater sensor, evap thermistor, pressure switch, & outside ambient air temp sensor) with my spare ones but it didn't fix the problem. For the evaporator sensor, I just unplugged the sensor wire and plugged in the spare sensor without opening the evaporator box.

Can anyone help determine the problem? Thank you.

if it is the blower that stopped blowing try a blower fan resistor, usually when they fail it would only work on high though. It is located in/on the HVAC box below the glove box, x2 JIC screws hold it in place, the ceramic can crack and fail.

I have a few blower motors fail. I actually had fail and fill the cabin with smoke. Mostly you notice the blower motor continue to slow down and start smelling electrical windings burning when they are burning.

You can measure the voltage on the pins the blower fan. On high, be full battery voltage and slowly getting less on each fan sitting. Would you like me attach the blower electrical diagram?

Did you try all fan speed settings? If it only works on high, or a sub-set of the speeds, it is the blower resistor.

Did you check for 12V at the blower motor while the fan is supposed to be on?

There was no smoke nor the smell of burning.
The blower diagram is different from the 2000 EWD? I have copy of the 2000 EWD.

Thank you.

I tried different fan speeds but the blower didn't run. I checked the white-blue wire and there's no current. But the relay on the evaporator box clicks. I'm now starting to think that it's a wiring issue, not a worn old part.
Thank you.

I tried different speed settings but no blower movement and also checked the resistor which was still in good condition.
Is there an aftermarket replacement for the resistor? It seems that Toyota has discontinued this part.
Thank you.

I'd check the relay that powers the resistor/blower motor, though it clicks the contact point may be covered in carbon. Also check both wires coming into the blower motor.

Update:

It was a wiring issue (blue-red wire). There was no continuity between the nearest junction box and the blower controller. The wire connector was very loose.

Thank you all for the inputs. Much appreciated.
