I’ve got a 99 4Runner with SEVERE undercarriage rust. Just curious about how much it would cost to get a whole new undercarriage and frame.

Any updates?

OK, don't hate me, but I live in NH and just bought a 98 Limited that spent its whole life in Sacremento. Looks just stunning, and sure enough, it showed up a couple days ago, I got underneath it and.............there was DUST on the frame! It looks so new I just cant believe it! Sure, its have over 200k miles, but its so pristine, I am going to deal with it. Cars out here in NE, with 100k miles are rusting. I already called and first thing i'm doing over here is getting it rustproofed, pulling out all the frame plugs and rustproofing everything. (at a shop that does this) so excited to have a west coast car! Now when I change my shocks, no fighting with stuck, rusted on bolts and corroded crap!!!!

Look into Surface Shield from Blaster to keep it that way

Inside the frame coat with a really liquidy rust inhibitor solution.

On the under chassis. Keep it covered with rust inhibitor of your choice. Fluid film will wash off. Being in the rust belt. I lean more with a cosmoline based coating. As it stays. Any kind of wax based rust inhibitor does well especially if it dries.

The solution is your choice. Just some wash off and others stay put..
