Prices are crazy. I told myself I'd never sell my 4Runner but damn it makes me think about it.

Probably selling it because it's 2WD.
Edit: Side note - I bought my Runner in 19' for $900. Actually almost walked away from it.

I don’t plan on ever parting with my 2000. They say that it’s the most coveted 4Runner generation? I get asked all the time if I’d be interested in selling it and I don’t hesitate saying no.

FWIW, I had 2 separate people offer me $5k on my 1999 2wd with 233k miles a couple weeks ago: the tech at Wal-Mart who replaced my tires, and the alignment tech at the Firestone down the street.
Seeing as how I bought it 6 years and 100k miles ago for $4200, I was tempted to say yes. But then I'd have to buy another 4runner at higher prices!
So I'd say yes, prices are definitely up right now, at least a bit.

That's so funny, with all I've done to mine I've never been asked once if I would sell it. Maybe because they know I never will?

I think what I don't get is why so many here want their 3rd gens to be worth less.
It's nice to have something the market appreciates and to be able to reap the rewards when you want to upgrade. I can assure you the Porsche Air Cooled guys didn't get all sad as soon as their stuff started to skyrocket a couple years back.
I actually posted up my ride to see the current value. Here in my area I was told $10k was the most I'd get. Posted it for $15k and got multiple people ready to buy at that amount. Listed it again for a few grand more and fewer people but still got some interest in a face of an ad that said firm price. Also one guy said my price offended him personally haha.
Have to look at the other side of the market, people are actively paying these prices, I can assure you it's not just dreamers. I proved it by my test listing.

Crazy! I have a very clean (no rust) 3rd Gen (98). It is stock, with manual and sunroof, 163K miles and in excellent shape & service records. I just put it on eBay (listed by "N229JP) with a $5500 reserve. Hate to give it up, but now need a pickup instead. Figured I would find out what they are really worth this way.
Cheers, JP

This manual trans 1997 in Bozeman is a bargain at only $10,500.
1997 4Runner - $10,500 (Bozeman)

So in other words "Inflation is good when you make a couple bucks from it"? Lmao what a weird take on things. By that metric the housing market is great - it's a good thing homes in Seattle that were $150k in 1995 now fetch $700k without question. I mean if they're selling their houses for more than they paid, that's only a good thing right?
But I digress, perhaps not the time or place
