Question Rear defroster disconnect

Hey everybody!

I searched around but could not find an answer to my question.

How does the rear defroster get disconnected? I understand when the rear glass is up it makes contact and then it functions. There has to be some wire connection somewhere.

I wanted to disconnect because I don’t want that defroster grid to act like a RF antenna when I key up and send stray RF back down to the CB radio. Besides I don’t use it anyway.

Thanks!!!

Bill

Ok!! So went in and removed the plastic cover and the inner metal cover. Unplugged both plugs and.......it appears I have less noise coming into the radio!!! I have to drive around and see how it sounds around the noisy areas of town.

Being in a urban setting the noise floor could get high. Scaling back the RF gain is what I would do. But if that noise is not coming in via the defrost grids then woot woot!!!

This mod was not my idea. I was watching a vid by BBI(Box Builder Idaho) on his cb mobile install. He mentioned this. And it wasn’t his idea either. He had gone thru 4 fuel pumps and trying to reduce RFI. Someone told him to unplug the defrost. All that RFI would go all the way down to the CPU and cause havoc.

Sorry for the book! So far so good!!! Thanks for posting the pics of the loom and actual plug location!!!
