Ubj 555 ?

so I will need to do upper ball joints very soon. Called my stealer and he wants 86 each and does not stock.... Most of the online guys you all deal with are expensive and slow to ship to ALaska if they ship at all. If this was not short notice, id order from someone on line... found one dealer that will do 67 each shipped, but will be 10 days out.
Anyway...I remeber reading that the uppers are not as critical to be OEM as the lowers...( putting on OEM lowers same time) and except for timmys video , on youtube, people are using all kinds of brands for thier uppers.
SO I wont go as cheap as Orielleys. Autozone has their best at 43, but Napa has the 555 line made in Japan for only 52.

Years past for Asian vehicles...the 555 brand was golden...but have heard they are not so much anymore.

and wow rock auto has uppers for only $4 each...those must be great quality

Have read tha tif the uppers go its not as catastrophic as the lowers, and the driver side upper just started making noise and causing vibration , down hill, when hitting brakes...so maybe it will last 10+ days if I dont put more than 300 miles on them,.....and wait for OEM....but need my driver...its my only wheels

Feedback ?

Only bad talk I've heard is with 555 LBJ, I'd go with the 555 UBJ inspect at oil change easy inspection process with your situation.

The upper isn’t a super high stress part like the lower is so I wouldn’t worry about it too much, oem only for lower ball joints but any half decent aftermarket ball joint will work for the upper

Genuine 555s are ok for the UBJ. Part number is SB-3561 for both sides. They're still Made in Japan.

If they've been working fine for you I don't see any reason why you shouldn't go with OEM again, but if you're looking to take the opportunity to replace them for something aftermarket I can't sing the praises enough about JBA. A benefit to going aftermarket is typically the ball joint will be cheaper and easier to replace than OEM

no issues so far, just a pain of a job compared to lowers. ONly use OEM on lowers.
