Easy enough I guess

Ordered on 7-21 after I asked my questions. Arrived today. Installed to 8" above the stock arm. Removed the stock arm afterwards. Didn't use any painters tape.

I really f*cking hate using Amazon and supporting that type of company but man is it hard to let go of that 2 day shipping and the convenience in general. I had my prime cancelled already but they let me get 7 days for $0.99 cents. I'm returning the hand rivet gun and KFD drill bits I bought on Amazon to install this - lol. Can't see myself needing either anytime remotely soon. I could've used the drill bits I already own, I was overestimating the amount of precision, sharpness, and carefulness needed to drill through the hood. It isn't a big deal at all.

I feel the same way about supporting the union-busting spaceturtle. I recently cancelled my annual Prime right before they were going to auto-debit $129 or whatever. I am monthly until I clear a couple items from my cart I cannot seem to get elsewhere. The other convenience advantage Amazon had for me was the Amazon Locker system allowing me pick up most smaller packages at a hardware store a few blocks away. Can't do home delivery due to work hours and thieves. Hope I can quit them.

I certainly don't blame a seller for using the platform, however

Of course not. You can order this stuff directly on their website but then you don't get the 2 day shipping. I needed this installed before Monday, getting some work done.

Not to keep this thread going on and on, but just wanted to add that both times I ordered direct, Spiker was super-efficient and shipped right away....

I actually kept my hood prop rod in place as a back up just in case.

Indeed, we typically ship our packages on the day of the order, or the following day.

The problem we come across is carrier delays - it ranges from good to OK to awful. We've seen packages get delivered in two days across the country, and take two weeks to get across town. That's one of the primary reasons we started selling on Amazon - those packages get delivered by Amazon, usually in two days, and we don't need to deal with them or keep track of them.

Check out this tracking for a package to a customer in GA - it seems to be endlessly bouncing around Atlanta for the past two weeks, with a detour to Nashville along the way. I doubt it'll ever get to the customer:

I’m keeping it in my garage. I can always put it back on.

I removed it for two reasons. The number one reason why I removed it is because the plastic clip that holds the rod on the right side, it’s broken. If anyone has the part number for that that would be great but I don’t have a lot of hope for replacing a piece like that, unless I pull it off the junk yard.

The second reason I removed it is because the paint on the rod is deteriorating due to the engines heat and without the paint the rod is rusting.

If these are quality struts they should last a good 10 - 15 years before starting to fail (getting that number from OEM tailgate struts or other OEM hood struts) and in the winter when it’s cold will give an early warning of them beginning to fail.

Given the age of our trucks at this point we’ll be lucky if our trucks outlive these struts.

Ordered from the site cause that scanguage bracket is something I've been looking for as well. I'd rather wait a few days then Amazon even though I had three things show up from Amazon today alone.

With my Runner's reliability, I rarely open the hood (check and replace oil maybe), so I skipping this project.

Yeah Amazon is the Greatest Shipping Company ever that just happens to sell most everything, haha.

That sums up Amazon perfectly. i gotta say though, the magic of a hood that opens itself is worth the price of admission and may also get your head in the engine bay more often leading to better monitoring and maintenance....
