Has anyone found a good bolt up replacement muffler assembly?

This is my aluminized Napa exhaust that’s 6 years old and on its second vehicle. It’s got around 40,000 miles on it so far.

Living in the rust belt I have Zero complaints. Napa has never let me down…….yet.

I usually drive on the beach a few times a month and of course there is a lot of salt in the sand. Of course it's always humid. I take the occasional ski trip and will travel on salt covered roads. My original muffler has lasted 26 years and 274k miles and it's been in many salty places! I'm just hoping I won't have to replace the muffler for several years. I'm going with a Northeastern stainless and I'll reply back on how it holds up.

I've also put the entire walker system. Do you think that stainless ebay tailpipe after the muffler would fit the ''OEM'' walker muffler flange? It's already rusting there

I bolted the eBay northern stainless to a walker exhaust for a year before the walker rusted out.

Your best bet is if you are going this route is to buy the complete kit muffler and tailpipe from northern stainless and just put the tail pipe on now.

As you can't buy the muffler separate or when i went to buy it was kit only or tailpipe.

So I have a one year old northern stainless tailpipe haning in my garage at the moment. :-)

That sounds like a good option for me. My napa exhaust is still looking great but eventually it will need replaced.

Yup. It works and bolts to factory OEM style flanges. I am just waiting to see how long they last for their cost. If they last more then 5 to 6 years they beat walker. As Walkers will not make it that long in our environment 4 to 5 years max.

My first Walker exhaust only lasted about 3 years before it rotted away. Like a dummy, I put another Walker exhaust on and it's rotting away again. If you live in the rust belt and don't feel like replacing it every 2-3 years, I would try a different brand.

Since I'm far from the salt belt I feel like this is probably a dumb question that'll get a dumb answer... but why not paint it?

They generally rust out from the inside. The condensation from combustion mixes with the gasses and becomes acidic……

I went through a Walker SS on my 96 Saturn every 3 or so years. That’s why I decided on trying the Napa.

Quiet. The 3.4L sounds like garbage with a loud exhaust.

Count your blessings your environment doesn't rot your steel. As simple jobs like changing calipers, well cylinders etc can turn into a nightmare really quick because of the rust.. :-(

Walker Quietflow is stainless shell, steel pipes and flanges. Decent muffler, lifetime warranty, only lasts 3 years in rustbelt. Napa sound FX cheaper, don't buy. Bosal decent but flange will rust off in 3 years in rust belt. OEM is the way to go for longevity, but is expensive and may not be available anymore. Borla cat back rocks but is $600. I have a JBA stainless after going through 2 Bosals in about 7 or so years. Been on about about 2 years, so far so good.

I'm actually looking to move out of the PNW and any area I look into one of the first things I look up is their annual salt usage to make sure I'm still far away from it How you guys put up with it I'll never know, especially PA - you guys use an ungodly amount of salt, #2 in the country iirc. One of my exes is from/moved back to Philly, I remember her telling me once "we have a lot of new 4Runners here but I don't see too many old ones?" Told her one could only wonder why
