Transmission

I have a 2001 SR5 . My transmission went bad. Does the tundra 2003 transmission would work? The junk yard it’s telling me it will but I am not a mechanic. Thank you for your help

It all depends on what your frame model is, and what the Trundra's frame model is.
You need to do your own research to see if it's a match.

Search parameters V6, 4x4. According to the Toyota's parts site:
1985-2002 Toyota 4Runner
1985-1995 Toyota Pickup
1993-1998 Toyota T100
1995-2004 Toyota Tacoma
2000-2005 Toyota Tundra

Like I said there's a whole bunch of frame numbers that interchange and uses that same trans. You need to research if it'll work for you.
Good luck

It would probably work but if it’s a v8 the bell housing is different

The 4.7 sequoia and tundra use the same transmission as the 01-02 4Runner; just with a different bell housing.

Thank you for your help. Would a be a direct swap without any mods ? I am sorry but I am not a mechanic. I just don’t want to buy something that it’s going to create more work.

It won't work. What Doc2012 means is, trans internals of the 4.7 is the same as the 3.4. Unfortunately the 4.7 is a 8 cylinder and the 3.4 is a 6 cylinder.
The bell housing of an 8 cylinder cannot be bolt up to a 6 cylinder.
Different bolt pattern.

But you can take the bell housing off the transmission from the 4.7 and put the one from the 3.4 on; and then it will bolt up to 3.4.

No.

You’d have to swap bell housings.

Take the one off the 4.7 and put on the one from the 3.4.

And the torque converter. And make sure it is has the electronically controlled line pressure setup of the 01/02 4Runner trans. And make sure it is 4WD (if your 4Runner is 4WD, of course).

I'd go to car-part.com and search for an 01/02 4Runner trans...
