Part number for instrument cluster backlight bulbs
The bulbs that illuminate the gauges when the headlights are turned on have lost their original green coating on my 1998 4runner so now they look like standard incandescent light bulbs.
What is the part number for these bulbs? Are there any good alternative LEDs that can mimic the stock bulbs?

Those bulbs have a rubber "condom" over them, but otherwise are standard bulbs. They didn't just wear out, somebody removed them.

The ones on my 97 were practically disintegrated, the only thing left was about half of em on a few bulbs and even then, they just fell apart when I removed the bulb. Time for an LED upgrade!

#194 bulbs at your local auto store
pick up the orange, long life version for a much better looking dashboard
I'd never go back to that green vomit inducing original color.

Looks great!
Although I can’t understand why people don’t like the green. I love it! LOL /shrug

That's sad... The bulbs in my '89 Camry dash (same style bulbs) are still in decent shape, and the ones in my '99 were still good 3-4 years ago when I last checked. I have removed the covers and moved them over to new bulbs at least once and keep a few extra covers in my bulb box from parts cars.
I've tried different dash colors and haven't found something I like better than the stock color overall.

So what you guys are saying is what I need is the green lens to give the incandescent bulbs the color- not a green bulb. God that is going to be a bit difficult to explain to a pick n pull yard (the pick n pulls around me don't let you pull parts off yourself out of fear of litigation).
I bet these green lens are hens teeth as far as going to Toyota is concerned, doubt they have those green lens on hand anymore.
That is strange because the bulb for my AC controls is literally a bulb painted green, not a separate lens.

Then just ask for the gauge backlights. You can pull the condoms off yourself once you have them.

Do new OEM cluster bulbs come with the condom on them?

I wonder if a diy hack might involve some thin green tubing, like aquarium air hose? Or along those lines. Snip a tiny piece, melt one end closed, et voila. Guess it'd have to be somewhat heat resistant though. Too bad they don't sell green silicone caulk, that'd probably work well too.
Edit: or, mix some blue and yellow Plastidip--the actual dipping kind--and dip the bulbs.

I believe that the part number for a 1996-1998 is 90010-06006.
I believe that the part number for a 1999-2002 is 90010-06034.
Those part numbers should be for the complete bulb, base, and condom.

I'm sure you get get them OEM from Toyota still. Or a quick google search for "toyota green bulb covers" will get you a million hits...

I like how it has the BMW cluster look. Did you remove the green rubber layer to get this look?

yes, you just change the bulb to the orange ones, naked. Use the LL 'long life' version
Been 6 years in mine (2015) and still have not had any burn out
This isn't my picture though, I found it on the forum here quickly. It's less bright than that in real life but looks exactly like this. Also changed the center cluster where the vent controls are to white bulbs (if I remember well), to match the orange more.

I ordered the part number given by Skulking. Asked the person at the parts counter what included, it is the light plus cover and base. Also said the dash takes 3 bulbs, I am very skeptical that there are only 3 of those bulbs but we'll see
