16400-75181 Japanese Radiator in a 2000?

Hey guys, I did a ton of searching about ye old 16400-75181, the radiator that apparently does come from Japan, and just wondered if it would fit in a 2000 v6. The toyota sites say it is only 2001 to 2002 only...but I feel like there isn't much difference radiator wise...or is there?

Anyone tried it?

I can't tell you for certain that it will fit because I haven't put one in. But I would assume it would fit since there is only 1 part number for Denso radiators for 96-02 automatics. The fitment years are probably because there were at least 2 different options for radiators from 96-00 because automatics and manuals take different radiators. Automatic transmission radiators require a transmission cooler (01-02 only had automatic) but manual transmission radiators do not.

There was no difference in radiator design for automatics from 96-02. Like Bad Luck said, the changes were only for the manual transmissions as they were discontinued and no longer made without an oil cooler.

Interesting, well I bypassed the transmission cooler and installed a standalone one so that wouldn't be an issue if it's missing.

Do you guys think it's worth it to try it?

it should fit. the lower & upper tanks, core, and brackets are the same as the old one

the only change is the drain cock & the radiator cap --> from 88kPa to 108kPa, this is an improvement against overheating

the change was made on vehicles manufactured starting Aug. 2000
