It's not really possible to Remove the immobilizer as it's integral to the body ECU (box that lives behind the glovebox). About the only way I can think to defeat it would be to take the ring that sends/receives the signal and fasten a chip/old key to it, tucking it up out of the way. Not sure if that ring is visible/part of the trim or not. Similarly, I don't believe any aftermarket Alarm system would touch that system... no real point (it's a simple comparison of the number on the key to what's stored on the ECU).
Are you sure the copy you had made wasn't a Clone? Did they drop the 2 keys into a couple cups on a electronic device? And did you pay more than about $15?

Looks like there would be the SECURITY word (and light) just to the right of the rear window switch if you have the Immobilizer/transponder key, on the plastic that shows the passenger airbag wording/light.

The key was not expensive, just a few bucks I think, so not special.
I'm convinced now that it never had the transponder, which I'm glad for; less hassle to deal with.
