Best style lights for the A Pillar/ditch light?

Meaning, spot, spread, fog, etc?

I believe “driving” and spread are the same

Also, halogen or led? I know leds rock, but I also have icy and snowy winters so the melting ability of halo would be alright.

edit: night time/country road driving

Well if you're going to use them for lighting up the sides/wheels/ditches I would go with driving or flood pattern. If you're using them straight ahead and ditches when needed, flood/spot combo. If they are only going to be facing forward, spot. LED is the best all around way to go. Less power draw and overall easier maintainence.

On my 4runner I don't really use LEDs, it feels like making Big Ben digital, just doesn't match the rest of the truck. So for me personally I go with halogens, and on an auxiliary light I could always up the wattage and wire gauge and use off road only bulbs that are even brighter than normal halogens you find on the shelf.

But for you I would say LEDs. They are better than Halogens in basically every way. Unless you live in Siberia I don't see you freezing over your LEDs, I've never heard of that being an issue on a car sense the engine probably radiates enough heat to keep them clear of snow depending on where you mount them.

I dont live in siberia, up here LED's can freeze over, but that said, LED's are the way I go.Any kind of extra lights up here are called moose lights ( to see the moose) . After the first few weeks of winter we dont see much moisture and its usually dry and blows off the car/lights when driving so nothing like lights then freeze over. But during those first few weeks and last few weeks the snow is wet and heavy and LED's dont produce enough heat to keep snow and ice off.
I doubt many people would need ditch lights if they are out driving in that kind of temperature anyway in the lower 48
