and I just had to use a 8ft pipe and a camshaft holding tool on the flexplate on a v6 in and engine stand to get a harmonic balancer off.
We actually used the harmonic balancer tool and ripped the homonic balancer center off. So yes you can over tighten the crankshaft pully bolt. Thankfully the threads are good. So it's best to torque these properly.
By looks of it, I need to replace the key in the crankshaft as I can see at some point it slipped hence why it probably was over tightened.. I just wanted to share our experience.
