Whats Compatable? 99sr5 vs '00Ltd

really need some input here perhaps @phattyduck @TheDurk etc any help appreciated and time is of essence..

mine: 99 sr5 4x4 auto 3.4

donor: 00Ltd 4x4 auto with elocker 3.4

i have an opportunity to grab some parts and wondering whats interchangeable mostly with electronic stuff or anything.

i really do not know what i should be looking at? brake booster ecm etc??

what big ticket items should i grab? elocker already gone. Please understand its rare where i live to get parts accessible like this.

Besides the e-locker, the only powertrain difference between the two will be transfer case. The 99-00 Ltd transfer cases are all multi-mode transfer cases, basically it's the same as the j-shift transfer case you already have but with an additional AWD option. If that is something you'd like, grab the transfer case, 4WD ECU (near the driver footwell), wiring harness, both front & rear driveshafts, and the gauge cluster (with the light-up 4WD/AWD indicator).

Some other things you may be interested in - power seats, leather seats, wood trim (it may not be your taste, but it's valuable if it's in good condition), and the auto-climate control (not really that desirable, but it is nice seeing the outside air temp with it).

Nearly everything else is exactly the same between the two vehicles, so if there's anything else broken, worn, or not working properly, this is a good chance to find a replacement part.

Drive shafts will be different lengths. Front differential (if it's still there) will most likely be a different gear ratio than your current diffs. Transfer cases and supporting control modules/wiring will be different. Everything else mechanical is the same.

HVAC controls and case are different. All other trim pieces and seats are interchangeable.

There's surprisingly little that is exactly the same as your SR5 but there's a handful of stuff that's always in demand.

Headlights
Foglights
Center console and ebrake lever and mount
Tan steering wheel
Leather seats and door panels (inside door handles also are different)
Anything woodgrain, I.e. center bezel, shifter surround, window switches, gauge cluster trim
Working climate unit
Overhead console
Rear hatch

Other things are sellable but in less demand

Ecu
Engine harness
Excellent condition interior pieces, mostly rear cargo area, door sills, dashpad
Other lights
Working sunroof unit

I don't think the climate unit/controls will be the same. SR5 has manual controls and Limited has digital controls.

Not sure, because it's a different year, the part numbers will be different, but the connector pin plugs are exactly the same between the two, so they might be compatible. I do know though that different trim levels all shared the same ECU, meaning there's no ECU specific to the Limited or SR5.

Not really - it will have the immobilizer system and won't start your truck.

I think you and I may have debated this in the past, but I can't remember the conclusion.

I believe the immobilizer and ECU are essentially completely separate, all the ECU does is store codes the immobilizer system checks and makes sure it matches your keys, if that match is incorrect, the immobilizer keeps the engine from starting, not the ECU. I don't believe the ECU cares if the vehicle has an immobilizer or not. The reason I believe this is because the ECUs between immobilizer and non-immobilizer vehicles are the exact same part number, there's no immobilizer specific ECU.

Am I wrong? Or would an ECU from a vehicle with an immobilizer not work (or need to be reset/flashed) if switched to a vehicle without an immobilizer?

I have an ECU in my garage from a '99 4x4 Limited that won't start my SR5 truck... so yeah.

Immobilizer wiring goes to the ECU, it has the key amp, the output to the security light, etc. inside the ECU.

The OEM security system is a separate thing and is part of the body ECU.
