Ironically a 2J swapped 4Runner was my dream for a while - but I hate turbos and the n/a GE model wouldn't be much more to scoff at in a 4000lb SUV - a supercharger and 7th injector would be much better decision in that regard
It's kinda funny because 2J fanboys will all try and tell you that they're capable of 2000hp but coincidentally all of them will omit how literally every last part is custom at that level from the block up, to the point it's practically just a 2J in spirit. The blocks have been known to handle 1000hp on more than one occasion but even that's starting to push it; and the only way one can hope to achieve double that is with a billeted and bored out block, E85 conversion, bigger turbos (maybe even a 3rd or add a blower too), completely reworked valvetrain, bigger/custom trans, the full nine. At that point is it really still a 2J, if everything has been replaced and altered? To an extent that'd be like Rob Dahm trying to pass off his billet 4 Rotor as a 13B

No argument there - there is nothing they didn't touch - it's a totally unrealistic one-off.
Here is an early set of dynos they ran while they were approaching 700hp. Later videos a from couple months ago at the strip and they claim to be way over 1000.
