Best way to repair rust on chrome without making it look terrible
The back story of this bumper is that I fitted it over a year ago. I sourced it from another 4runner and it already had rust on the back. I sanded off as much rust as possible and painted the back of it. I already have new rust forming on the back (but thats for another time).
Yesterday I was re torqueing the bolts and I saw rust forming on the chrome finish. The bumper has a lip of metal that faces down towards the plastic valence, that is where the rust is on mine. Its not that visible, but it is on the shiny chrome.
I would usually sand away the rust and use either touch up paint or black spray paint to protect the bare metal. What is the best way to deal with rust on the chrome bumpers while preserving the finish?
