Black Friday / Cyber monday sales 2021

Admins -- my bad if it's not kosher to discuss in the general 3rd gen board -- please move if so. But what are you guys looking to purchase this year during Black Friday / Cyber Monday and what deals have you seen / do you expect? I think I'm finally going to pull the trigger on an Icon lift if I can find one on sale.

Not sure what I'll be doing, if anything, but I was poking around SRQ's "15% off everything" BF sale and realized that the owner also owns True North Fab and although they use a different shopping function, all prices end up the same as they do on SRQ's site. Suppose it wouldn't make a difference which 'company' it was ordered from....would it?

Just used the 15% off code for Spiker Engineering. New to me 4Runner needs the hood struts and I wanted to try out their phone mounting bracket to see if I like it better than the panavise and proclip mounts I've tried before.

Looks like 4xInnovations is having some early sales. I can't remember the code, but there's also one for them floating around here somewhere-- I wonder if you could add that code as well.

I've been happy enough with some 4XI skids I have and their plate bumper looks like one of the last decent deals (for a pre-welded unit) @ $745 with a full height grille guard. But when you click on Calculate Shipping the Fed Ex freight charge is $269 - putting them right in the same range as your TNFs, etc., with their 'free shipping'. You can't win if you can't weld....

I love their phone mounting bracket. I use it with a Moment MagSafe mount and my iPhone stayed mounted while riding in Moab this summer.

Bought a Sherpaequipmentco matterhorn rack from their early black Friday flash sale. It's on 15% off racks and 25% off their accessories. They're increasing the price on Dec 1st so if you guys were planning on buying, black Fri is the time to do so

My only concern with the phone mount is my phone sticking up too high and obstructing any view above the hood line or blocking the air vent. Not a big deal from a safety point of view, but more of an annoyance I suppose. I'll try it out for a couple week either way.

That's great feedback, thank you! Glad to hear the setup is working well for you

That is a valid concern - I also wouldn't want the phone to block the vent of my view of the road (which I think is a major shortfall of the Pro Clip concept).

I tinkered a lot with the design to get the mounting surface to where I think is best for most folks. For ~6' person, with the phone in a portrait mode, the vent is completely unobscured, and the top of the phone sticks slightly above the hood. It might block something that is a few feet to the right/front of the hood, but in practice I don't even notice it - it is less of an obstruction that the A-pillars. If you put the phone into landscape orientation, then nothing gets obstructed:

Also keep in mind that there is some flexibility in where you locate the phone on the mounting bracket - you can bias it up/down and left/right a little to best suit you. And the RAM holder option gives you even more flexibility.

Sorry for the threadjack!

I'll give it a try, but Spotify and Google maps only work in portrait mode for me. In order to get the proclip mount to work for me I ended up blocking the right vent but moving it as far to the center as possible while still being able to see the time on the clock. Passenger can still use the right center vent, but anytime I use a wired charger instead of the wireless charger I have mounted the cord hangs down by the automatic shifter. Not an issue right now, but I'm fixing a manual 4Runner to be my new daily so that could be a problem. I spent a lot of money (way too much money) trying out 4 different phone mounting solutions my first time around so I'm not too concerned about another $50 to try yours out.

Yup, the vent will be unobscured in the portrait mode as well:
