Roof rack delete strips...where to buy...or trade for OEM roof rack??

I'm pulling the OEM roof rack off my '02 SR5. We have a Gobi rack on my wife's '16 TRD Pro, which we use for camping etc, so I'm going for the clean look on my T4R. Does anyone know where to find the factory roof rack delete panels, or does anyone with a truck that didnt come with a roof rack want to trade their panels for a complete OEM roof rack??

Thanks!!

they're obsolete -- the toyota part # is 0278-35966 cover strip. my runner came with them and i like the clean look but finding a good set is super hard.

I just took off my tall crossbars. I am going to paint the rack silverish to blend in more with the roof. I thought about deleting it, but again, the strips are discontinued. Another idea I had was some Flat Aluminum Strips painted silver gray or black, drilled to bolt in the OEM spots.

Thanks for the info guys...I figured as much. Maybe Ill get lucky and someone will want to trade. Does anyone have a good picture of them? It may be worth just fabricating a close proximity out of aluminum bar stock.

Id really like to do it the right way and have the holes welded up and then repaint the roof....then you go down the rabbit hole of while you're repainting the roof, why not the whole truck....in a different color.....

Found this pic...looks like you could fab something similar out of 1/4" aluminum bar stock. Shape the ends, counter sink the holes and use some nice stainless button head bolts. Paint or powder coat as desired. I imagine it wouldn't be too hard to find a roll of rubber gasket material in the correct width and thickness.

it looks like the third hole on that strip is cracked, thats what happens to them over time. one of mine is cracked just like that and i put black silicone in it because i havent been able to find another good one.

Gotcha. Been doing a little research...I still need to go measure the factory roof rack rails for length and width, but you can also by aluminum half-round from mcmaster carr by the foot. Again, drill and counter sink some holes for button head bolts, and come up with a way to finish/shape the nose of both pieces, they could actually end up looking better than the factory blanks with a little bit of effort.

yea, the hard part will be shaping the nose of each piece and you don't want to mess up as the aluminum isn't cheap!

30 mins with belt grinder and some patients would be pretty easy to make those round profiles.

if your sensibilities require CNC machining... then it's just more money but not hard to machine at all.

you could even use some fuel tank strapping and trim to fit for the rubber seal.

I have these "delete" strips, granted I believe mine are like the picture you posted where its cracked. I am also located in Austin, so we could meetup and you can check it and possibly trade if you're interested. Shoot me a PM and maybe we can work something out
