New Year, New Suspension!

Long Story, so bear with me!

So last year I upgraded from Toytec’s Ultimate lift with Bilsteins to Kings with adjustable rears.
I’ve always wanted King shocks and everyone I spoke to solidified that by saying they were like “buttah” and their rig rode like a Cadillac.

I place my order for extended travel front with 700lb springs and adjustable rears and wait 18 long weeks!

When I get those blue beauties in, I waste no time and install them.

The first test drive was such a let down! The ride was not what I expected. I can say, I’ve never rode in a Cadillac, but I’m sure they don’t buck you off your seat and feel like a dump truck. The ride felt just like my Bilsteins, just a little more controlled.

I replace the front springs to a 600lb spring and it made the ride better, but I was expecting it to be smoother, more like my 2020 TRD Pro.

So I decided to just sell the Kings and start over again.

I wanted a few things and weren’t going to settle this time around.
I wanted them to be adjustable and have resi front and rear.
After doing some research, I decided to finally relocate the rear shock mounts with an Archive Garage Kit and 12” travel Fox Factory 2.5’s tuned by Accutune.

For the front I ordered a set of adjustable ADS shocks with resi.

While waiting for my order to ship, I’m poking around and I come across Fox Factory front DSC Coilovers for a 95-04 Tacoma.
Part # 880-06-408
This part number only states it fits Tacoma.
I know 1st Gen Tacoma fronts fit 3rd Gen 4Runner.

Here is where things get interesting.

Fox factory coilovers without resi
Part # 883-02-023
Fits 95-04 Tacoma
AND 96-02 4Runner

The extended and compressed length of both shocks are practically identical and how can one fit both and the other with the Resi not? Placement or mounting of the resi?

I call fox and they told me they never did any R&D on part # 880-06-408 for fitment on a 3rd Gen 4Runner and that the shock will bolt up and the extended and collapsed lengths will work but they aren’t really sure if the resi will fit.

I call Accutune and talk to them about placing an order for the Fox factory fronts and if I have issues with mounting the resi, could I order different fittings and different length resi hoses to get them to work.
They told me that fittings and hoses are available.

So I place the order for the Tacoma front shocks tuned for the weight of my T4R and should be getting everything in a few weeks.

I’ll post up how the front Tacoma coilovers work out! Maybe we can have another suspension option that isn’t well known for fitting the 3rd Gen.

CRB Racing Build 2.0

I have some pictures on my build thread. The Fox 2.5 kit installed.
The bolt pattern on the shock mount is clocked different and the hose the kit come with is to long. The hose might work with 33s or 265s, but didn’t work with 315s.
