Hey guys, first thread, stereo question

So I’ve been trying to find the stereo that’s in my 4 runner, it looks almost like the one in the same year camry, I’m trying to find out because the cd screen is bubbled

Find the pictures here https://www.toyota-4runner.org/membe...unner-2wd.html

Welcome to the forum!!

Regarding your question: do you have a photo? What year is your truck? Trim level? Did you get a part number for the head unit based on your VIN from a reputable site like PartSouq Auto Parts Around the World or Toyota Parts and Accessories - Official Online Store ? There's really no way to answer your question without more info.

For better refinement

I’m pretty sure the radio and cassette player are stock, but I think the previous owner install a Oem CD player but I’m really not sure

1. go to PartSouq Auto Parts Around the World
2. type in your truck's VIN
3. then search "RADIO RECEIVER"
4. then look for the section with a diagram for "RADIO RECEIVER & AMPLIFIER & CONDENSER"
5. then look at the diagram and descriptions.

The number on the diagram is the "Code." There will be one or more Toyota Part Numbers ("Number") for a given part code.

When I search with my VIN, I can see all the various units that were available for my truck. Looks like there were 6 available options for different head units for my truck (yours might be different). Then I could search the internet using the part number (10-digit number that Toyota uses) and maybe find an image of the unit that matches mine. Once I know the part number for my head unit, then I could try to find a replacement.

Best of luck!

[screenshot is when I searched with my VIN]

Not sure if it will fit, but I have a stock cd/cassette out of my 99 4runner limited that I would sell

Don't bother replacing with the exact head unit model. Hundreds of options out there that will work fine.

I would definitely recommend replacing it with bluetooth able receiver. I did that and I definitely thought it was worth it in the long run and it wasn't that much to do so

If you’re handy with dash trimming scion radios (T1819) make a nice 300w OEM Bluetooth and hands free calling stereo.

I THINK the condensor is a capacitor for the amplifier.

IF that's what this is, then it can briefly hold a charge to balance out the signal and guard against drops in power.

Just an educated guess of course.

EDIT: What Does a Condenser Do for an Alternator? | It Still Runs
