If your SAS Lets Talk
Looking for build threads here.
Is there anyone lurking around on here Straight Axles and running Dana 44 and larger?
Starting my parts list and want to see what worked and what didn't.
I'm planning Dana 44 or larger Front /14 Bolt Rear (narrowed) and 39.5 Iroks.
undecided on 3/4 Link or springs.
You won't change my mind about SAS for all you guys with 6k into your IFS "Long Travel"
Tire size will match my IQ and Penis. Thanks for looking.

Also, why a 14 bolt with a Dana 44? The 14 bolt is one of the strongest axles ever made, it's also one of the heaviest with the worst clearance. I'd either get rid of the Dana 44 for a Dana 60 which would better suit the rear, or get rid of the 14 bolt for a Dana 44, Ford 9, or Dana 60 which would better suit the front.

Price and Availability is why. $$$$
If I can find a Dana 60 I will go that route.
I would love to just do Diamond Housings, but again Price and Availability.
This thing will probably only ever see mud trips and snow.
Its going to be a long build, But I want to have axles and parts ready before I start cutting.

I second this motion. I would think a rear 9 inch would be easy to source and be more of a match for a D44.
EDIT: Even a Tundra 10.5(?) axle housing would probably be a better match.

Taking all the input into consideration.
I hate getting rid of my factory E-locker. So I may stick with Toyota Running gear. My engine is so tired it would be a miracle if it ever broke a Toyota axle shaft.

If your worried about missing your elocker, then just get a passenger drop TG/DIAMOND axle. I just did my SAS last November on 37’s I’m old, but wanted to build it right.

I was gonna say, I don't remember you having a solid axle last time I saw your pics. Very very unique rig
How much did SAS run all you guys? I've heard it's a solid $10-20k bill

I paid $5K for rims and tires(both new)
$6K in labor(F3.5K/R2.5)
$8K F parts
$1K R parts
So yah, this is not including the other parts that you buy while doing a SAS swap. Spent about $6K in motor upgrades, exhaust, rock lights, other lights, supercharger, supercharger accessories, etc, etc. I have parts that I didn’t even put on yet because I’m waiting on fuel injectors. All parts I bought for my swap was brand new except one item and that was the steering box.

[QUOTE=Black798;3706391]I am getting close to finishing up the sas on my truck. I decided to go all out and imo do it right by redoing both the front and rear suspension. I kinda went down the rabbit hole of no cutting corners on it while keeping it toyota based. But between all the parts alone I am at least 15k deep. If I start adding up all the other stuff I did to make the sas better, turbo, standalone ecu, etc I would be well over 25k into it i think. Ive done all the labor myself. What I went with was a LC 9.5 axle in the rear and a HP 8". Coilovers front and rear and all the bells and whistles.
I just sourced a HP 44. It has 8 Lug outers so now I'm working on gathering parts still.
I'm in Billings and am looking for IFS Lift Suspension parts for now. Do you have Coils or your take off stuff you want to get rid of? I won't SAS until I have everything ready to go, that may be awhile. haha

****ing Beautiful. If I had your fab skills it would of saved me about 6K and I would of 3 linked the front with coilovers in the rears.
