AirDownGearUp SS1: Storage, Sleeper and Drawer System for 3rd Gen 4Runner
Hello Everyone,
AirDownGearUp has been selling a storage, sleeper and drawer system for Landcruisers since 2017. In the last few years we have expanded into the 5th gen 4 runner and GX460, and now we have an offering for the 3rd gen 4 Runner as well!
As a brief overview of the SS1; it is a modular system that can be configured as a simple storage platform, storage+sleeper, or the full storage+sleeper+drawer system, with the ability to install drawers individually. Slide out tables are also available under the drawers for added utility. The drawers are full-extension, ball-bearing, lock-in and lock-out. The drawers and sleeper can be purchased up front or added later and retrofitted. The system is comprised of CNC cut Baltic Birch, with recessed mounting hardware and fold-up wings to retain access to the side cubbies. Details can be found at airdowngearup.com
I have attached a few pictures showing a recent install of a platform and sleeper on a 3rd Gen. I've also attached pictures showing what the drawer and slide out tables look like on an GX460 (which use the same drawers) This can also be equipped with drawers and slide out tables! I would be happy to provide more details, let me know what you think!

Far be it for me to tell you how to run a business, but maybe you should consider actually having the 3rd gen product on your website BEFORE telling everyone that more details can be found on your website.

Well that's sound advice! Hadn't updated the page! 3rd Gen 4Runner can be found here:

Thanks!

AND turnbuckles
;)
EDIT:
But seriously, they do look nice, if overpriced. Although the 3rd Gen section skews more DIY, so I would guess it's gonna be a harder sell here. It does looks like there's a little more interest over in the 5th Gen section: AirDownGearUp SS1: Storage, Sleeper and Drawer System for 5th Gen 4Runner

Hey so I looked at the website and everything looks good on it but, I don't see an option to add drawers and trying to price everything out it would be nice to know what the drawers would cost. This seems to be about what I wanted but designed a little better than what I had planned for a DIY build.
Edit: if you read the post in its entirety you will see it says exactly what i asked about

Look at their “premier package” for $2100 bucks. This is from the product description:
“Premiere Package: The SS1 in its entirety with optional Slide Out Tables. Buy it all at once and save big! Add a desired Slide Out Table or two as separate items. Includes platform with or without sleeper, two drawers, beauty panels, cargo dividers and drawer dividers.”
And on that note, that’s almost as much as I bought my 4Runner for…

That was my first thought too. Ill save 2K and just prop up a sheet of plywood and throw an IKEA dresser under it.

That's a great idea, go to home depot and buy it all for $100 out the door. You'll save a whopping $2400!
I'm all for people trying to sell their products and understand the need to make profit, but at a point the overpricing gets borderline insulting (and somewhat narcissistic on the vendor's end). It seems all too common these day vendors don't stop to think what they themselves would be willing to pay for such a product, and instead are purely focused on how much profit they'd like to see returned back with every purchase.

Honestly this product is reasonably priced for a starting platform. You guys got to remember that not all people know how to do the things the DIY people can do. It’s about the convenience for ALL people to buy a product all ready made and ready to go. It takes away the planning, measurements, materials, and timeline to do a project like this. I started off with a simple platform for my truck with junk wood($60 Lowes)and I finished my system with better wood ($80 Lowes) and a 1/8 aluminum drawer ($100) with industrial 500Lb slides ($100).
1st platform
2nd platform

Thanks for the feedback so far!
Lots of convo on pricing, so we just wanted to provide some clarity: Our goal is to provide a top-notch option for the 4Runner crowd. A low price tag is not a part of our design mission.
The pricing reflects the refinement, features, modularity, light weight, ease of install, etc. We are focused on creating the best possible user experience with the product over the lifetime of the vehicle.
We are looking forward to working with more 3rd gen owners!

Reserve Your Birch! Global supply of Baltic Birch, our primary building material, is threatened due to world events. Place your order ASAP to reserve materials for your builds this spring. We have multiple alternative materials, but ALL of them will result in a price higher than current prices.
We have some material on hand, but industry chatter says nationwide supply may be completely gone soon. Lock in your system now while we can hold our current pricing!
