P0171 Help!!

Hey guys,
I have a 98 runner and I just changed the valve cover gaskets this past weekend along with the spark plug seals. Put everything back together, no leaks, but my check engine light turned on not long after the gasket change. The dreaded P0171 code came up on my reader. I cleaned out the MAF sensor and cleaned the air filter, also checked all the vacuum lines, which I found a cracked hose and replaced it, cleared the codes and the light came back on. Not much experience in diagnostics and I'm kinda stumped, any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Most likely a vacuum leak. Get a cheapo smoke machine or Spray carb cleaner see if the engine idle changes. if all the hoses are good. Could be the plenum gaskets, Throttle body or iac gasket, pvc grommet etc. If it's running lean then it's good possibility it's a vacuum leak. Check your fuel trims using an obd.

The 'hose' nearest the plenum is suspect if original. Mine had a crack between the creases, couldn't really see it yet it leaked.

New OEM one and done! Here's the part for an 01-02, earlier ones are a little different. Luck!
