I'm going to check the panel gaps in the morning to see if anything looks off. The front fender and passenger door were replaced after the accident. There weren't any obvious places I could see where it would have come from without taking the fender liner out but I'm not sure where all the fastener locations are.

It's possible they just dropped it and didn't bother to find it. Hence why it was left there too..

Well I had the skid plates off 8 months ago and it wasn't there. It's been to 2 or 3 alignment shops since then but hasn't had any other work done aside from oil changes and tire rotations.

For it to have come from the fender and land in the skid plate, I'd think it would have had to have been under one of the bolts that runs along the top of the fender but there aren't any gaps there. It's a mystery for sure!
