16400-75181 Radiator: Made in Japan
There's already a few threads on this & wanted to add to the confirmation that the more expensive Toyota radiator with pn 16400-75181 (~$365) are made in Japan & comes with a radiator cap. From what my local Toyota online parts guy told me, the cheaper Toyota/Denso 16410-YZZAJ, 16410-AZ011 or Denso 221-0508 (~$150) were offered to compete with lower cost aftermarket radiators & were usually made in Taiwan. Comparing the 2, the one that's made in Japan does seem to have a better build quality & wasn't beat up during shipping compared to my older Denso radiator that's made in Taiwan. Also, the first Denso one I got years ago had a leak when I first installed it which I was able to exchange for a new one.

Wow that's fascinating, I've never heard of this. I've replaced a few 4Runner radiators and even when I went through the dealer, I got the cheaper Taiwan Denso which looked essentially the same as the original but the writing on the top was different, didn't include a cap, and obviously made in Taiwan. I also had one of those leak right out of the box but figured it was a shipping mishap.
That's wild. Thanks for the info

But it looks good. I can't wait to see it being driven.

this is a pretty cool find and thank you for sharing! I've been following the conversations around where the radiators are produced over the last couple years and I though the "JAPAN" made was completely non-existent!

That’s cool. Don’t be scared of the other one though. It’s a quality piece. That said, if this one was a known option, I would have bought it.
Even the Chinese koyo rad from NAPA I put in my ram 2 years ago was a nice piece. Chinese doesn’t always equal garbage, just most of the time…..lol.
China is capable of making great parts. They’ll build to whatever spec you want for a price. Problem is everyone likes their cheap bs…..easier to make money and most people just don’t care at the end of the day.
By the way, there’s a much higher percentage of Chinese parts in newer cars now. Start opening up Dorman and Cardone boxes….. you’ll be surprised at what you find.
