Is this 4Runner 2WD or 4WD??

These pictures are from a SR5 2000 4Runner. These lights do not look on, but just illuminated by the sun. Basically I’m asking if the 2WD 4Runners have the placeholder for the RR Diff Lock light and 4WD lights (even though the lady selling claims it’s 2WD)

Shared album - brock tubre - Google Photos

I know what to look for like locker buttons, 4wd shifting knob, 4wd emblems, etc. but can’t figure it out from the other pictures.

Thanks in advance.

Dash could be replaced, could be a body swap on 2wd chassis, or have grenaded/damaged 4wd parts...

no one could Possibly know for sure based on just those 2 photos. See the vehicle in person or pay someone else to do it for you (PPI through a shop).

Ask her if she minds taking picture behind one the front tires. All she would have to do is is hold her camera at about ground level under the bumper and angle up a bit.

Thanks for the info, yeah I didn't think about a dash swap. I am trying to get her to send more pictures. I will probably just go have a look at it, see if it has front differential and other 4wd parts.

Thanks for the help!

ask for a pic of the manufacture sticker on the firewall.

If it says VZN180L, it's 2WD.

If it says VZN185L, it's 4WD.

My two wheel drive has the same spots for lights, but there's no bulbs in them, the dash cluster is universal in the 99s.

The easiest way to tell if it's four-wheel drive is to check the VIN number online at Toyota's website, or look at the shifter console from an interior pic.

An e-locker would show up in an interior picture with an extra button with orange writing next to the interior light dim knob under the left hand side of the the gauge cluster.

Keep in mind, that an e-locker swap could have happened after it left the factory so that may not show up when you run the VIN number, but you can always ask the seller...

You just need a 'regular' interior shot that basically everyone should take when selling a vehicle. Big shifter = 2WD, two smaller shifters = 4WD.

All the base/SR5 clusters have the spots for those lights in '99.

I can't believe this didn't occur to me this morning when I suggested taking a picture underneath the vehicle. I'm a dips*** sometimes. LOL.
