Just swapped out my break booster
Hey guys, recently I posted that I was having issues with my brake pedal being hard as a rock. It was suggested I clean or swap out the check valve first but I saw that for around the price of a Toyota valve (~$50+ locally) I could buy a booster that came with a valve so pulled the trigger on Amazon for one.
I went ahead and installed it today with my son and it wasn't that bad, all in all it took about and hour or so even after he fell asleep lol
I went ahead and tested out the booster and thankfully there were no leaks from the brake lines we had to tweak a bit to make room for the booster but I did notice something while out driving. Thankfully the pshh sound from my old booster was gone but it was replaced with a new sound on this booster and I'm not sure if it's because it needs to settle or what.
When I press on the pedal, as I reach the bottom there was a small "pop" with some feedback as well, think of it like those air pockets they put in as packing material. Like I said it was really low though but I could hear and feel it even with 1 headphone in my ear. I continued to drive and finally hit some bumper to bumper traffic and eventually the popping when away. I went ahead and switched back to surface streets and again no issues with braking and the popping noise seemed to be gone at this point, as well as the feedback. I did notice now though that there is a slight wine now though, again no issues with the breaking, just small noises I'm noticing and I'm not sure if they're normal or if I should worry. I didn't make any adjustments to the booster or my pedal and again not sure if it just needs time to just settle in and I'm just being paranoid but again it is part of the system that makes me stop so feel my worry shouldn't be out of the ordinary lol
