As for bringing a vehicle, it seems like you won't encounter any special challenges as long as you stick to the roads and don't modify the engine. If you need help with your move, you might want to check out this link: Full Service Movers Near Me | Full Service Moving Companies. They offer full-service moving options that could make your transition to LA much easier. Good luck with your move!

Tell me again how many hectacres of OHV-friendly desert and mountain trail access you have in Florida? You can get away a lot of mods here (but there aren't many worth your time on these, anyway). You have beaches, you say? Pismo Beach is still legal too, thanks to Friends of Oceano Dunes – Access for All Let's not forget about CORVA - Home either.

Live close enough to your job so you have to drive. It will slowly kill you. I lived in OC and worked down town and Metrolink was the only way to go.

Some folks are obviously afraid the resale on their overpriced property will take a hit if word gets out about CA, lol.....

Might have been a bit harsh with the drugs and alcohol comment but they hand out beer at Halloween in my sub. Be warned... to be accepted as a true Husker there may or may not be an tribal 'ordeal ritual' involving shots of 99 gas station liqor and other imbibements.

Yes you're welcome, until you're not. Then you're passively aggressively still welcome. I've actually written poetry about Nebraska... which tells you how weird it is. Weirdly unweird.

California for the last couple years has experienced a net loss of people. For the first time in the history of the state, more people are leaving than coming. That says something. The liberal policies are ruining this beautiful state. There's no plan to deal with the homeless in big cities like Los Angeles and San Francisco. It might not bother you, but it's bothering a whole host of people that are fed up and want out. I don't know if i'm leaving the state, but I'm certainly moving to an area with less homelessness, crime and filth.

The thing is, it doesn't need to be this way. It's the way the state is managed. It's the decriminalization of drug crimes, being drunk in public, and enabling this life style by letting them set up camps wherever the hell they want. Back in the 70's when I was growing up, the cops had the authority to kick people out. People high on drugs were sent to jail and did time. It's basically a free for all and we all suffer as a society.

So, don't get your feelings too hurt about what I said about LA. I'm not a fan of where I live in San Jose either. I use to like visiting San Francisco, but I have no desire anymore. I don't want to see the filth or take a chance of one of my truck windows getting smashed. The property crimes in S.F. are off the charts bad. My neighbor across the street just got their catalytic converter stolen. I'm not going to be surprised if I'm next.

Anyway, you have a nice life Frank.

Perfect comment. My little ranch home in San Jose is supposedly worth $1.5 million. What a joke. I would never brag about my neighborhood or my house, but somehow it's worth a crazy amount of money. I'm not complaining. I just don't understand it. California isn't the state it use to be. It's been on a steady decline for a long time.

I'd argue the thing exacerbating the problem is the social safety net that funds and perpetuates it...and you're right: it doesn't have to be that way and it is 100% the way the state is managed.

And CA's real estate issues have driven the entire country's as they export their ridiculously high prices to other states as their ex-pats emigrate paying "over asking price" to their new areas.

Homes are a consumer durable good, not an investment....or at least they shouldn't be and we shouldn't want them to be. Millennials and Gen Zers are finding out just how bad a public policy infinitely rising property values are.

Big City living ain't what it used to be nearly everywhere in the USA. Until the Sackler's opiate addicts die off and Fentanyl is curtailed (thanks, China - via Mexico), we are going to have major urban quality of life issues. California has an immense diversity of terrain away from the cities. I'm looking at properties along the 395 corridor for access to Mammoth, Death Valley, Mojave and Nevada. Hard to leave the weather here on the coast, though. It's pretty great NEVER being hot, but I'm leaving permanent City Livin and headed for Green (or somewhat Tan) Acres for my golden years of boozin and grillin and wheelin.
Probably going to keep the super cheap rent-controlled flat in the City for the kids. They're born and raised here in the fog. One of my kids graduated from UC Davis yesterday - Happy Father's Day to all the Pops out there. A little braggy, I know, but I'm proud of the Covid Kids who persevered.

Big congrats to your offspring! It's not easy getting INTO UC Davis, let alone graduate. Now the hard part begins: Getting a job commensurate (big word for the day!) with all that effort. I hope he does as well as he deserves.

I was born and raised in a little town called Woodside there in the the lower peninsula. Just towards the mountains from Redwood City. When I was there, it was a quiet little town, filled with redwood trees. Now, the trees are mostly gone, and Woodside is filled with rich folk's mansions. My father bought the house I grew up in for $80 K, and sold it a while after my sister and I had moved out on our own, for a mere $2.4 MILLION! Unbelievable!

Anywho, I wish you the very best, and enjoy the rest of your Toyota time

Thanks - it was my daughter who just graduated - my boy is a sophomore there as well (weird I know). I grab a sandwich at Robert's Market in Woodside when I'm on 280 quite a bit! Must've been an incredible place to grow up.
