I had a noise very similar to this and thought I was ready for a valve adjustment. After tearing it all apart, all my measurements were great. It ended up being the camshafts which have the split/spring loaded gear on them. They were a bit sludged up, so all I had to do was disassemble them, clean out the spring mechanism really well and put back together. No more noise! This was at about 150k miles

Just an update for y'all.

The deeper sounding noise was one of the VSV valves. I replaced that and the noise got better. The lighter tapping noise remains so I think it is time for a valve adjustment!
