Dobinsons C59-297V
Anyone running the dobinsons C59-297V coils?
Im looking for a replacement for my 890s as they just cant handle the weight.
Ive also been looking at the toytec springs but im worried they will give too much lift.
I have a rear sleeping platform which is about 70lbs with a mattress which is probably another 25lbs along with a 65lb marine battery. When im camping i have a hitch rack ~50 lbs that I put about 70lbs of firewood on as well as my water which is another 50lbs.
In total with all the camping gear im probably looking at 400lbs but only the platform, mattress and battery are in the car full time.
Anyone know any springs that can handle that weight and is in the 2.5-3.5" lift area. The dobinsons seem perfect to me but it says they only give 2" of lift which is really putting me off

Bump.
Curious about these too. I'm running the 137v, but added alot more weight and the 297v seems perfect.
The 137v are amazing, but with the drawers/sleeper and full camp load out, I think I need something that handles more weight.

I went w/ OME 2861 w/ 4th gen 5100s after the Dobs 137Vs started to sag. Load: CBI dual swinggate bumper w/ spare hanging out there, 2 full jerry cans, 3rd w/ water, fridge, drawer system, tools, house battery system, recovery gear, roof rack w/ even more crap...on and on + camping gear....!
Fully loaded ~600lbs and rides good and level at ~ 2.5in above stock....
If I didn't have all this nonesense, I would get the Dobs 297Vs

I installed a full Dobinsons IMS setup on my '01 earlier this year. As these things often go, I made some changes after the initial install, so I have a pair of c59-137v coils (teal) and a pair of c59-276 (teal) for sale. Both sets only have 'local' miles on them, over the course of a few weeks as I made changes.
These were purchased directly from Dobinsons and I'll let them go cheap if anyone is interested.

Do we know the free length/height of each coil? Reason I ask is because if you get something that has a shorter free height than the 890s then they might become loose under flex depending on how much travel you have.
Assuming you have a good travel setup with your shocks, I would definitely not get anything shorter than the 890s

That’s exactly my concern. Nowhere has a measurement for the free height. I’m worried about losing a spring at full droop

Don't they make an air bag thing you can put inside the spring that you can like pump up when you need more weight capacity?

I’m sure they do but I haven’t done any research into them. Im not sure if they would limit flex in any way but if they do then it’s a no go for me. I do like the idea of them but to me that’s just a band-aid

Well I think some people use them so that way you don't always have to ride around with heavier springs if you're not constantly carrying that load. Are you going to be constantly carrying it? I might have missed that if you already said that, sorry lol.

I probably have like 150lbs of constant weight in the vehicle. I don’t mind really stiff springs. Every vehicle I’ve ever had has rode like shit so I’m used to it at this point

my 4runner is on dobinsons 210v LCFJ80 oe replacement = LC7.5 wrap replacment saggy. concider switching over to ome861.

More than the 150? If I’m going on a camping or off-road trip yeah. Plus the 150 add about 30lbs for cooking stuff, about 50lbs of wood and 5 gallons of water( about 50lbs) and all that is on my back rack which itself weighs 50lbs and is hanging about 2-3 feet front the back of the car so the weight is multiplied(idk how that works with vehicles)
When I’m fully loaded there’s quite a bit of crap that’s pulling the rear end down.
Here’s a photo of what my setup is almost full loaded. Only difference now is that the hitch is not flipped yet in this photo
Also keep in mind the OME 890s only had ~5-10k miles on them in that photo. They now have 25-35k on them so the sag is a bit worse. Sorry I don’t have exact numbers

Here is a current photo of the 890s with roughly the same weight on them. Also keep in mind my tires are 1 inch taller in this photo 255/85 vs old 265/75. The cooler weighs about 60lbs and there’s no wood on the rack but probably 10lbs of garbage in that black bag. You can see there’s not much gap left from these coils
